I am in the final stages of my divorce and have a question.  If you could change one thing in your divorce settlement what would it be?

    • I dont know what i would change, i got custody of the kids and THAT was ALL i wanted, i lost our home and furniture, i didnt ask for money, i just wanted out. I think if it was happening today.....i would have done the same thing. I had no attorney. The one thing i regret is, wasting my life on him to begin with..but then i got beautiful kids out of it, so i won anyway.

    • Ask for more money.  My ex got everything because we moved into the house he inherited.  Make sure your lawyer is a shark who is really working for you to get everything you possibly can.  I was intimidated by my ex’s lawyer and mine didn’t stand up for me.

    • I’ve been divorced twice and both times I got everything but the house.  I don’t think I would have changed anything except more money for my children.  The ex didn’t pay any child support.

    • When I divorced, I just signed whatever it took to get out.  In hindsight, I’d have fought for what was MINE instead of walking away and letting him have it all.  On the other hand, I think it still burns him up that I cared so little that I could leave it all to be free of him.  Guess maybe I wouldn’t change a thing.
