Has anyone heard or used of Magic Jack? It is a device that click onto your computer and your phone, via high speed internet, you can call free long distance, even international call.
I am thinking of getting one so I can save $35 on my Comcast phone bill. All comments are welcomed. Thank you.
Do you still have a cell? If so use that for your calls. However with comcast how much will your internet and cable change if you drop their phone service? Since it usually comes in a bundle rate you should check that before you change anything.
In Michigan I had a fax line, a ohone line, internet and cable all with comcast and I paid $110 per month. A great deal! But here in TN it would be more than twice that amount for the same service. So maybe you should check with ATT or whoever owns the phones lines there and see if you can get a better rate.

I use skype for my long distance calls. It is computer to computer and costs nothing. Skype is free ...you just need a microphone and speakers on your computer. The person you are calling needs it too of course.

If you want to call to a phone it costs...but if computer to computer....ANYWHERE in the world it is free.
I am paying Comcast $33 for each of the service: internet, cable and phone. I have chopped cable. Now is $66 for internet and phone.

I also use skype, but have lots of business partners who use the jack as a second line.
We have MAJIC JACK! Have had it since June. Great price 3 years 49.95. Includes unlimited local and long distance. we only pay $33 for internet,not $106 home phone and internet. We have co-op at our new house. You have to leave on computer for it to stay connected. Storms affect it. Reception not great when using it and surfing internet. Maybe it is my co-op connection though. Minor problems considering money you save and you have a home phone again. sign up first year is $19.95 plus setup fee and equipment not much less than $80 bucks. We love it!!!!
