I totally agree with vikki...life IS difficult...with plenty of ups and downs.  If we choose to stay in the negative then sure it is going to be a rough road...but we don’t have to...there is always the other option of accepting our circumstances and trying to make it better...

Having to deal with my depression this past year that has not always been easy...but I am strong and have faith that things will always work out. I firmly believe that God does not give us more than we can handle...And although at times my plate seems to be overflowing I know that I will make it.

I do not think most people choose difficulty in life. Sometimes it finds them.

    • As an astrologer, certain aspects tend to make it seem some people have it more difficult than others, like karmic baggage brought from another lifetime. But since eventually detrimental aspects hit everyone at some point in life, your ability to cope, which can come from the personality traits you have developed along the way, determines your reaction to adversity.

Personally, I consider difficulties in life learning experiences. If you don’t learn from them, you are doomed to repeat them until you do.

I know a man who seems to have more difficulties in life than anyone I’ve ever met.  And he positively wallows in his predicaments.  Now I don’t suppose he has any more difficulties and calamities in his life (he’s lived to be 80 after all) than you or I.   It’s his attitude and never ending whining that make his problems seem so much worse.  How you face your difficulties is everything!

    • Sometimes we have “stinkin’ thinkin‘” when we believe lies which can cause difficulties. Women stuck in abusive relationships have become comfortable in some way. Choosing to stay there is choosing difficulty.
Other difficulties we have no control over...like loosing a job or contracting an illness. These are the inevitable difficulties.

    • I LOVE all of your answers, idea’s and your own opinions!  It is so nice to hear what others think!

The reason I asked this question is because on another social website, I had written a blog about some challenges that have occurred in my life.  (Hubby lost his job & our medical insurance and my bulging discs & fibromyalgia have been hurting more than usual.)

Someone responded to my blog by telling me that LIFE IS NOT DIFFICULT, UNLESS YOU MAKE IT THAT WAY.

Personally, I believe that life does have good and bad times, which is a normal part of life.  It is my faith and hope that get me through the tough times to hang on tight, persevere, trust in God and keep on keeping on!

My favorite response to my question here is from Karyn Olson who wrote, “I am strong and have faith that things will always work out. I firmly believe that God does not give us more than we can handle...And although at times my plate seems to be overflowing I know that I will make it.”

Karyn, my plate is definitely OVERFLOWING, but I trust that there will be a beautiful rainbow at the end of this storm!

I also believe that if you have a positive attitude about it, you can overcome just about anything.

    • If a person makes a poor judgment and puts him or her self into a difficult situation that could snowball into something that can not be resolved, then that would be bringing difficulty of their own volition..say, a person who has unprotected sex and contracts herpes that stays for life.  The difficulties that a person has no control over is hard, and sometimes even harder to keep your chin up, stay happy and hope for the best, therefore a good support system helps in the trying times.

    • Marya, I agree with you that each person deals with difficulty differently.  It is amazing how some people thrive when they get hit hard with nasty challenges, but other people can not even manage the trivial & minor problems in life.

I love what Fraz said, “Attitude has a lot to do with the outcome of any situation.”  Yes, a positive attitude will definitely make a HUGE difference!

    • I think our misperceptions and choices can make life difficult. Being willful and self centered can make life difficult. Needing to always be right can make life difficult. Living life without healthy boundaries and insight can make life difficult.....and then things happen to us that is tragic and beyond our choices that make life difficult. I think in the big picture of life many of the challenges come from our way of thinking and inability to be accept change and move forward.
