    • As for me, yes, I have started Christmas shopping.  I LOVE Christmas, especially a white Christmas!  I enjoy shopping for my kids, watching the excitement and look on their face Christmas morning when they open their presents.  Yet, I want to instill in my children that Christmas is not just about getting a bunch of awesome gifts.  The true meaning of Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus.  I want my kids to grow up celebrating the REAL reason for Christmas.

This is is very tough on my family financially since I am not working.  Money is tight so gift giving will be less, but I want my kids to know that there is no money that can replace the gift of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ.
Even though my husband & I are not able to purchase as much as we would have liked this Christmas, we have peace of mind in knowing that we are making memorable moments for our children to understand the true reason for the season.

    • for online shoppers here are some tips:

always do a coupon search. If you shop at jecpenney, do a jpenney coupon google search. sometimes there are none, but sometimes there are. I save lots of money that way. even if it is a small shop, try. You never know.

If you shop ebay at all. you can get cash back after 60 days from microsoft on BUy IT NOW items. There is a short way if you belong to live. Go into your account and find the stores that offer cashback.
For ebay...go to live search.com ...type in WII...then you will see a cashback ebay link. Click there. It will take you to wii items. But if you look up it will say cashback, so now anywherre you go in ebay you will get up to, in some cases, 30% off buy it now.

    • I have! But I’m feeling the stress of not moving quickly enough on it. I need a personal assistant!

We may use some of our “valued customer thank you points” to get some things for free. But as the family keeps getting bigger it becomes more difficult to cut back.

Anyone else making homemade gifts for Christmas?  Please share because we would love to hear!

    • My family and friends know that Christmas is an insane time for me. My Christmas cards usually become, “Happy New Year” cards, gifts often come late and, well, I hit the ground running at Thanksgiving time and don’t come up for air until Christmas morning.

      BUT

Now that I have access to all these wonderful things; candles, jewelry, purses, books to give as gifts, all ordered online I have a few less presents to worry about.

Money, I usually end up spending too much because I have to get express shipping on everything!

    • I have not started my shopping
But I have ordered over 500 something
as generic gift to give away
the only missing is for my hubby, son,
siblings, close family members and parents
Other than that, I think I am done
and concentrate on the real  Christmas meaning.

    • I have just started Christmas shopping. I hope to be finished by the first of December.
My husband wants to go to the mall of america the day after Thanksgiving! I have told him to enjoy himself.
Every year at Christmas time I buy numerous gift cards. I put them away and use them for the following Christmas to purchase gifts. Once my cards run out I am done. If I don’t do it this way I tend to over shop.

    • I have started shopping but only for the kids. They usually give me their lists about the beginning of Nov if they haven’t mentioned things thru out the year. Since I won’t be going ‘home’ for Christmas I need to finish up early and ship everything out......
Since my extended family is fairly large we ususually give each other what we call house gifts. It can be fun, sincere, tacky, useless or whatever but it has to come from our house. We wrap it and put tags on it just like a normal gift. I can’t tell you how many times I have received the same puzzle that has less pieces each year....

    • Our neighbor just told us tonight, that all of the siblings of theirs, never exchange bought gifts. They will make coupons for babysitting, car washes, painting and window washing to name a few. They try to be as creative but with a need. I really liked hearing this. The suggestions they had were very thought out for each person. They started this about 5 years ago during a rough emotional time. Everyone has enjoyed it so much that it stuck.
