    • I took St. John’s Wart a few years ago. I was so stressed out and someone gave it to me. My Mother was dying, she was my last living relative that I knew, I was laid off from my job and had broken an arm due to an accident. When I took the St. John’s wart, I felt fine, but I was a bride’s maid that day and in the photos I was so high, and it really showed. But I have very little drug tolerance too. three glasses of wine and I am out like a light. ....

    • My mom drinks the tea & likes it.
As for me, if I’m moody it’s usually got something to do with circumstances or pms but, that’s me. I’ve never tried St. John’s Wort before. I’ve heard great things about it though.
      Have a great day! :)

    • I did try it for about 3mos. I don’t know if it actually made me feel better or if I felt better because I thought it would make me feel better. Follow?

    • I find all of these responses very interesting.

Although I’m not certain, I thought that a certain level had to be maintained in the body for any ‘result’ to be achieved. So, the statements about taking one and feeling “high” are surprising.

I had actually gone into GNC one day to get Gingko Biloba for memory enhancement, but forgot what I was shopping for and picked this up by mistake. (That’s a true story!! lol)

My husband and I started taking it about 2 weeks ago, and I didn’t really think I was experiencing any change until it occurred to me, quite suddenly in fact, that my REGULARLY scheduled emotional outbursts (you know the monthly I’m referring to!) DID NOT HAPPEN.

No irritability, no crying jags, no mood swings. And I had it pretty bad! Nothing has ever made a difference, so I’m quite stunned.

So, I’m going to hang in there with this regimen and see if this theory pans out next month, too. If so, I may have just saved my husband from a lot of misery! ;)

Thanks for all the responses, ladies.

    • Wow! No irritability around “the monthly” would be priceless! Keep us posted, you can be our guinea pig, I mean our (not so) clinical trial! ;o)

      great article.

I tried as i did not want to take any ad’s. For me, it make me kind of sick and I had more problems with it than the prescribed ad’s. But, I also have an autoimmune disorder which changes my system.

    • I had a strange experience. I got depressed. I'm usually upbeat and happy, and here I was weepy and cranky.  When I asked a holistic doctor he said that very rarely people experience adverse effects, it was noted again in my chart that I'm "special"

    • Awe Yana,
      We already knew that. :)
I take a product called Plus (that contains Mexican Wild Yam) and don’t have mood swings or cramping, even though I going through other PMP symptoms and cramps used to be horrible. I did try other herbs in the past, but not St. John’s alone. It was in a combo that my midwife recommended (though not when I was pregnant.) I didn’t notice a difference.
