Q & A

Hi evry1!! I’m 48 yrs old. When o was younger i used to exercise. Not anymore though. I would like to start exercising but i work nite shift. So I practically sleep all day plus i have to cook, etc. I’m not over weight but my doctor said loosing 10 pounds would get me to my  ideal n healthy weight. How can i introduce exercise in my life? Maybe sum  suggestions would help  me figured that out. Thnx! Abby.

It is soooo important to exercise, and you must find time.  I start work @ 8am, and I get up at 4:45am to work out.  Maybe an hour after you wake up, you could do a workout? Perhaps start walking everyday to get used to it.

    • I worked night shifts for 23 years and felt better and slept better when I exercised. Just a long walk helped. You deserve to take care of yourself this way.

    • I work rotating shifts including 12 hour nights. I do not know what I would do without my workout. I actually have more energy. If you lack motivation, just tell yourself you only have to work out 10 min. By the ten minute mark, I am motivated. Come up with your own reasons for wanting to work out and do something you love, not dread. Good luck!

    • Doesn’t matter what age you are, exercise makes you feel better. I used to work what printers call ‘the lobster shift’ and I wound up exercising before I went to work. I would exercise using a half hour routine on videotape (LOL, remember them?), then hop into the shower and get going to work. On the rare occasions I overslept, I was glad I felt fit enough to run for my trains! I suggest not exercising before going to bed because it would keep you from sleeping properly.

    • I am pretty lazy.
I recommend doing the 21 day challenge.

      pick 1 thing to do.
maybe 15 situps everyday for 21 days?
15 jumping jacks everyday for 21 days?

Whatever you are inclined to do- do it every day for 21 days.

I even told myself that it was because I was lazy. But I knew in my heart that it wasn’t entirely my fault. I knew because I use to workout and yet, I still seemed to be gaining weight and STILL had no energy. I was in dire straights. And the battle was being lost and my health was getting worse by the day. I was so desperate and I thought I would never get my life back. But God is great and my prayers were answered when I attended a Health fair and came across the most amazing Nutritionals. It may or may not be for you but if you would love more information, please send me a message and I will send you some info. Hang in there, and more importantly do not give up. I know you will find something that works for you like I did. It may be as easy as just taking baby steps.

      Blessings,
      Rose estatic

    • Abby, there is a detriment to working nights, throws off night workers’ Circadian clock or something. I knew this but worked Midnight to 8 for 12 years because I loved having that 15% night differential in my pocket. You still have to find a little time for daily exercise because the older you get, the harder it is to get up!

Rose is right about nutrition, I also have a juicer which helps when I feel a bit run down. Even if it’s a brisk walk around the block 20 minutes a day, it helps.

    • I would also buy a pair of the Reebok Fit shoes its a wonderful shoe. I wear them as much as possible. Get a WII and just do a short workout at home.

    • Whenever you go to the store to do your shopping, park at the furthest end of the parking lot and get a few extra steps in that way. That should give you a little bit of a jump start. Good luck
