    • I would like to when I get the extra time, and I will either volunteer at a animal hospital , or a nursing home. Or both.

    • Most of my volunteering is done at my church.  I do most of the painting type work, decorating for Christmas, etc.   I’m also on the church board and parish board which involves a lot of hours of sitting thru meetings.  I’m also a board member of the county ambulance district.  And I do whatever I’m asked to in our community.  I also keep about 1/2 mile of road ditch litter free in the summer time.

When I write it down, it sounds like a lot, but really I wish I could do more for my community.

I forgot to answer the “how did you decide” part of the question.   I didn’t decide.  In the case of being on the various boards, someone approached me and said “will you?” and then they elected me.   Mostly it’s a case of I’m not good at saying no.

    • My volunteering in the past has all been hair related. I have done hair cutathons, free spa days for hospitalized kids, and things like that.
This summer I want to participate in Habitat for Humanity and in the United Way in Memphis.

    • No but I have had in the past...most of my volunteer experience was with social agencies...the local women’s centre, child and family services and church....I would love to do this again but my lack of mobility does not allow me to...hopefully one day I can get this fixed and once again do the things I love to do.

    • I have been a Meals on Wheels volunteer for over 6 years.  Every Friday, i pick up my friend, Jackie, from work and we deliver to a dozen or so clients in town.  I started when Jackie asked me to join her...she started as the result of an event from her job. I don’t see us stopping anytime soon!
