    • We had one in Rochdale called Tiffany's (so not like the Jewellers) it had a tropical theme with awful scraggy palm trees and the bar had a straw roof effect – the dance floor was pitted with cigarette burns and the seating was supposed to be beige – more like black grunge.

They had a glitter ball and strobe lighting and you had to remember never to wear white underwear as they had UV lights which showed every speck of white and your undies!

I used to go in teens night with my cousins – looking back it was great times but the place was a sewer ......

    • Well now let’s see...
The one’s I attended that were for kids 18 and under were called (don’t laugh!) Disco Kid and Crystal Gardens.

The ones I went to that allowed under age in but were for 21 and up was The Side Street Bar and Skylight Lounge.....

All except Crystal Gardens (because they are a fancy schmancy hall) are closed now....

    • Several but we weren’t drinking cola!  Back then you only had to be 18 to get in and I have an older sister and we looked a lot alike.  She and her friend would walk in then her friend would walk out and bring me her driver’s license.  I was only 15.  Geesh!  I would of killed my son if I knew he did 1/2 the stuff I did as a teen!

    • Absolutely...there was a local pizza place which housed the restaurant downstairs and a disco upstairs..teen night was Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., it was lots of fun to go from the age of 14 to 16..the drinking age in Bflo, NY back then was 18, so the summer we were turning 18, we all hit the mainstream bars.happy

    • The town I lived in during my teens in central Florida was WAY too small to have a club. Heck, the town didn’t even have a traffic signal installed until just a few years ago. Come to think of it, we didn’t have a fast food place either! We had to drive a long time to get to ANYTHING, but we didn’t think twice about it. Now that I live in a suburb of St. Louis - and have at least a dozen restaurants within 3 miles - it seems unfathomable.

    • No. We did all our partying in someone’s finished basement, usually with red or black lights (that ultraviolet light always told people who had dandruff EWWW). Usually the parents were not home, so there was liquor and uh ... no name cigarettes.

I never knew how some people kept their homes; and had a rude awakening one time when I was at someone’s place for a party, the lights were red. Someone turned on the regular lights and the wall moved! OMG! There were so many cockroaches I made a beeline to the door, grabbed my jacket, shook it out, stomped my way across the street just in case a couple of them decided to take a trip in the cuffs of my pants. We had spiders, but no roaches, my grandmother saw to that. But because of that wall moving, no more red light parties for me!

The place was Houlihan’s. I was so sad when they closed It down.
