    • The whole thing is very sad. In my humble opinion, I think that we should have a healthy respect for wild animals. Even as a child, I did not like trained animals in the circus or couped up in the zoo since I felt that they always looked depressed and should be free. It would be nice to have more safari type zoos so that people could view animals in a more natural habitat and not be confined to a small space.

    • It was a tragic accident and very sad. I agree with you Max. I can understand trying to save a species from becoming extinct but to lock up wild animals is wrong. Most of the orcas that Seaworld has were born there so they don’t know anything else. Capturing an orca and taking it away from their family is wrong. Reminds me of Free Willey and Keiko who played Willey was a captured whale!

    • They should have some kind of sanctuary or something that Is much larger and more room for them to swim around In where the killer whales can go. They shouldn’t be kept In such a small area.

    • They are wild and should remain wild. Just another way for people to make money.

Zoos and Sea World should be closed down. It’s abuse imho!!

Sit in a cage for a day and see how it feels...

    • I think it is tragic that we believe the whole ‘breeding in captivity’ b.s. for aquariums, zoos, wildlife parks, etc.
      The truth is:

*It is difficult to get animals to breed in captivity.

*Their life spans are greatly shortened due to respiratory infections. Look at this website for an idea on why we should not support these ‘shows‘, zoos, or aquariums!

Very sad indeed! Also, it is a wild animal. Sometimes they BEHAVE like wild animals.

    • I rather go out in the ocean and see the whales in their own environment. Tillikum is an 11 ton intelligent mammal who must be tired of performing in order to eat. I feel for the trainer, but she knew how dangerous Orcas can be. If the whale had snatched up a spectator it would be a different scenario.

You can sense through the cages and the glass how depressed these captive animals are and even though I like going to the zoos and the aquariums, I prefer the ones that set aside ample space for them to be in their own environment and we can visit them. None of this performing nonsense.
