Q & A

I’m contemplating letting go of a job that I absolutely love.  The problem is I don’t want to let go of it and I don’t like the highschool stuff that goes on around me when I am there.  I’ve been in my field for 13 years and it is the same thing over and over.  Everyone is always trying to impress everyone with their skills or knowledge.  I hate this portion. I have been trying to hang on but I find myself just talking way too much about it and losing sleep over it?  Someone give me some advice-this job does not pay any of the bills infact, I don’t have to work.  I work only 2 hours a week but put in about 10-12 hrs.

    • If your income is not required in the home, is it possible you can do the same work for less or even as a volunteer in a different organization? If the work is wonderful and the people are the problem, maybe the same work but with different people around you may help.

    • Annie123 is absolutely correct. Don’t focus on the negative. Just focus on the contribution that you make and the lives you can impact. And let your joy come from that and not what everyone else is doing or saying. Just remember that whatever you focus on expands. So stay positive. heart

    • I work about 9 hours a week, sometimes more during the holidays. My paycheck Is just basically spending money for me. I work with alot of young people and some of them are In school, but they are fun to work with when the time Is right, cause obviously we are there to work, but when they start acting like they are In high school, or seems like theres drama, I just turn around and walk the other way, do my job and get my day over with. I love my job and sometimes It can get stressful or there will be a person who rubs you the wrong way, but you work your way around that person/people and pay attention to what you need to do.
Sence I am there for 3 hours, I don’t let It get to me. Don’t just up and quit because of others.

    • I say if you love the job, and love what you do, stick with it.  I totally understand the high school games and how frustrating it can be, but remember you are there for you and if it makes you happy, stay.  Just try to ignore the other stuff.

    • It sounds like you love the type of work you do but not the surroundings.  Maybe its time to move on before you start to hate what you love to do.  You say it is to hard to ignore...I think you answered your own question.  I wish you peace of mind.
