    • I don’t mind going to home parties, but I absolutely hate hosting them.  Way too much pressure to get people to show up and get orders.

    • not a fan of hosting or attending....I’ve seen their stuff in ads in magazines, not sure where their prices range, I like Silver Sterling jewelry and find it at jaw dropping prices at our mall, I haven’t attended any where I found anything in the range I was willing to pay. Silpada does have beautiful pieces.

    • I love to have them but sometimes don’t like going.  If it’s a party for something that interests me, I love it, but if it’s something boring, I don’t like going.  I will say this....If one of my friends is hosting the party, then I WILL go to support her endeavor!

    • I went to one of these today for monogrammed bags.  Since 5 people showed up, I felt pressured to buy, not even a decent spread of food and I spent $82.86 on a LAPTOP bag!  I was surrounded by babies and children since my friend recently had a baby and invited her new circle of friends with babies AND daddies came too.  I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.  It was terrible!  I don’t care what is being sold, I’ll never got one again.  I’ve been to Southern Living, Passion Party’s, Candle parties, Jewelry and frown Monogrammed purse (31) parties.    EVERYTHING I’ve every encountered has been over priced.   NEVER EVER AGAIN!

    • I’m not a big fan of either though I have hosted a couple of Partylite parties.  I don’t have that many people to invite.

    • I don’t mind them. I have even hosted some for other ladies just to help them with their business. Having a very successful home based business of my own, I love being able to support other business minded women. I even hosted one for a great gal who sells Silpada jewelry. It was much fun. But I don’t particularly care to have any of my own and in my business, it’s more word of mouth. People can’t help but ask what it is that you are doing. So I love that! It’s a very duplicatible business.

Congrats carmy_m on your recent business venture! How exciting!! estaticestatic

    • Ok... You want honest, the answer is no.  The jewelry is beautiful and drinking and chatting with friends is fun, but that’s it.  It’s over priced and you always feel pressure to buy.  It’s clearly a way for the hostess to make money, so everyone feels the pressure to spend allot or look cheep.  In this economy... i’m sure less people are attending.

    • I have recently been considering selling Lia Sophia jewelry, but as others have mentioned here, it is one of those deals where the product is overpriced just to accomodate all the hostess bonuses and seller commissions (not to mention a cut for the regional mgr). I own several pieces of their merchandise, and I love them, but I am not sure I could sell them well enough to others.

I do enjoy hosting parties, because the hostess bonuses are great, and it’s always fun having GF’s over for drinks and laughs.

I don’t think most of my friends would feel pressured to buy just to avoid looking cheap or to help me out. I have walked out of many home parties without buying a thing, or having bought only a small item I felt I could afford and really wanted (Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Passion Parties, etc.).

      FWIW...
