    • We were determined not to name our kids after anyone in our families.  Our daughter is Rachael Paige.  We wanted a name that was obviously female but not too frilly.  Our son is Andre Richard.  We were told he was going to be a girl and his name was going to be Anna, but we had a list of boys names on standby anyway (thank goodness).  With him we broke our rule of not naming him after anyone because Richard is my hubby’s middle name :)

    • Amelia Anne - Amelia is my husbands Grandmother, actually she always went by Molly and when I was pregnant we told her that we would be using Molly and she said oh dont do that besides it is not even my name - my husband was hearing that for the first time in his life. Anne is my middle name and my mom’s.

Nicolaus Lawrence - Lawrence is my FIL name and they have a family tradition of Grandpa’s name gets to be middle - and his first Nicolaus Copernicus ( I am married to a geek)

Both love them although Nicolaus gets Nic at school now

    • Very nice sounding names here.  I especially like Dinky!

Hubby named my older son, John Douglas.  First after the father that raised my husband, and second for the father that gave him his blood.  Hubby’s bio dad died when he was 2 and he was adopted at 4 by his second father who we are very close to.

Second son, Allen Wesley, is named after a friend of my husband’s family who has since died.  He was physically disabled at a young age, which my husband says made him extremely kind to children.  So my hubby he wanted to honor him by naming our son after him.

    • Anthony; because I wanted a good strong male name and one of my favorite movies is “Saturday Night Fever“. Mark; his fathers favorite uncle. M‘Lisa; her father wanted something unique, I wanted something for her heritage, it was a originally Melina and just changed around from there to create M‘Lisa.- turns out there are other M‘Lisas out there.

    • My kids just ended up with a hodge podge of names.    Their middle names are all sort of family names.  Oldest has my middle name which is also my mom’s and my great grandmother’s.

Second son’s middle name was for his grandfather.
Third kid, her middle name is after my Grandma Grace.
Fourth kid, his dad named him after an old girlfriend (her name was Randi) and I gave him his middle name after a friend who drowned.

    • I was hoping for a girl and had the name picked out.  When “he” came out I had no idea on a boy’s name.  My girlfriend came to visit me at the hospital and said “What about Kevin?“.  I liked it and used Nils as his middle name, my best friends brother who passed away.  Does he like it?  I guess so.

    • My children got their name because of the meanings of the names:

Jan-David = darling, loved one happy

Dorothea = gift of god (my beautiful girl)

Micha-Josia = Who is like God! (from the Bible)/ Josia (a famous, good and very young king in the Bible)
