Q & A

Can you help me? My kitchen is basis white throughout and I’m trying to come up with a color scheme. I’m leaning towards mixing greens, oranges, yellows and reds together. Any other ideas?

    • You can do a lot with those colors, anything Autumn like will blend with them.

I have the same white basic kitchen, but I chose a ocean theme, so I have a lot of blues, tans, and lighthouses everywhere. My curtains, canisters, towels, oven mitts, placemats and floor mat have lighthouses on them. The studio’s kitchen I had before was a mix of white and black, and I went “grape” crazy!

    • The nice thing about basic white is you can splash color all around with towels, small appliances, dishes, cannisters and when you get tired of those colors you can have a garage sale and start all over! I love using accessories to bring color into a room. And I change my mind a lot.

    • I like Cynthia’s suggestion, cause I tend to change my mind alot too. Last year we painted our kitchen this mustardy yellow color, and now I don’t like it.  I want it back to like vanilla white and just accessorize the kitchen with splashes of color.  But then again, I am not good at all with interior design or ideas.  Sorry Neicy, this was of no help! ...good luck!!  happy

    • Our kitchen is a basic white..white cabinets, butter-cream walls and black with tan speck counter-tops and a dark beige tile backsplash behind the stove..I incorporated red and white dishes and have red and stainless appliances and added red, cream, dark beige, black and teal into the mix using dishtowels and various little things..it looks airy with an edge...also love the colors you mentioned!estatic

    • Those colors sound nice Neicy. I wish I had a basic white kitchen so I can add many colors to It when I want.
My kitchen has oak wood cabinets and gold/yellowish tiles on the floor. My kitchen Is basically Reds, Country greens and some black. But mostly Red, thats one of my fave colors.
I have roosters and chickens In the front area and cows In the back dining area. Yeah I am a country girl living In the city..LOL

    • Hello ladies thanks for all your suggestions, Coralee I too am an Interior Decorator I like getting new ideas from other to see what others thoughts are concerning decor. Everything is white from the appliances to the cabinets. My floor is gray color tiled floor which I’m not too fond of and can’t change and this is one of the reason I want to put my color choices in there to brighten it up. As far as art goes I really don’t have a real preference I love all forms of art but then again I do lean more towards abstract art with a lot of bright colors in them.

    • I agree with you Neicy! Go with the bright colors. A kitchen should be bright and cheerful because it seems that is the place most of us stay in.heart

    • I think your on the right track, you need a “POP” of color. If you have another room near by like a living room or family room take one of those colors and bring it in your kitchen.
Cynthia had the right idea with towels.

      Until next time...estatic
