How do you motivate yourself to do something that seems so overwhelming but you know you have to do it?
I break it down in few steps and just go for it.
My motto:
Don’t leave for tomorrow, what you can do today.
Remember what Nike preaches...JUST DO IT
I have to talk myself into it - like right now I have to start talking myself into working out. I missed my workout this morning and I don’t want to go a day without it.
I start at a corner and work my way through. Things don’t seem so overwhelming when you chip at it a little at a time.
I agree. Break it off into manageable pieces. Take a deep breath, and just imagine how good you will feel when your on the other side of it. Remember, this too shall pass.
I agree with Lisa. Break it down into steps. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone about it too.
I am terrible at this so I have to set my mind and dive in and limit interruptions. The satisfaction of completing the task is great. Last week I cleaned out my clothes and shoes and donate a ton.
Thanks ladies, I appreciate your suggestions. I definitely need to talk myself into and just start! ..chipping away at it, that is! One chip at a time.
I usually wait until the last minute and do it because it has become a deadline. (Not a healthy practice)
Yuck...set the timer on my stove and try ten minutes of the task....

I procrastinate, talk my self into it then go into full blast focusing on finishing it.
LOL Mindy, I just might try that! ..maybe tackle it 10mins at a time, may help.
Tracy, I can usually just do it. But this one has me stumped as to how to start, where to start, then I sit and over analyze and strategize the darn project to death. Now I can’t just do it anymore. LOL! I’ve made a mental mess of this particular project!
Most things are never as overwhelming as our minds tell us they are. I have to convince myself that it’s really not that bad, and then, like Nike, “I just DO IT“.
My daughter is the very same way. I have to convince her that it’s really not as bad as it seems.

If it is one of those things that make me want to vomit when I think about it, I pray first. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me” Then I dive into it.
It usually turns out to be better than I thought it would be and then I just laugh at how I felt in the first place...lol![]()

I like Mindy’s idea of the timer and tackling 10 minutes of the task. I’m going to have to try that.
I pretty much do what Yana does. I hate having things hang over my head.....

Lately I have been running on low...and that means lack of motivation...I am not usually like this and like to get things done right away...but now I have been waiting til the last minute and know that I have no choice but to get it done...
I like to get things done so I jump right in and start...and usually dont stop until the jobs done.
well, as bad as it looks, I sit around having panic attacks until the 11th hour then I KICK ass! lol NO really!
Orrrrr someone tells me I can’t - silly I know but something about “You can’t do that” gets me moving.... dangit.
