A mother is not a person to lean on but a person to make leaning unnecessary.
Dorothy C. Fisher, quoted in O Magazine, May 2003
US novelist (1879 - 1958)
What is one thing your mom equipped you with to stand on your own?
My mom gave me the strength to just do it! Fix a toilet, paint a room, re-tile a room, mow the lawn and generally just do what needs to be done.
Curse some might say!
Love that saying!
Actually, don’t remember my mom, but through the years always was grateful for my value system which I KNOW came from her.
Happy Mother’s Day to you and all!!
Jean
My mom taught me that being honest and recognizing the right thing to do in all situations is the best way to live life. when we‘re truthful we never have to worry about changing our story.
My mom taught me to always help those in need if I can. She also used to say “Remember, if you need a helping hand look at the end of your arm” in other words...
“Be self sufficient”
Coralee, I love that quote! That’s pretty much the way my mom raised me and the way I raised my daughters.
She taught me to just pitch in a do what needs to be done.

Coralee - I have the same trait. My mother said she refused to raise Penalope Pitstop so I can change the oil in my car, do basic fixes around the house and standing up to anything that needs to done. I am glad to be her daughter.
