Does anyone have trouble swallowing pills?
I have had this problem for quite awhile and I am not sure why I cannot swallow them, I have to literally concentrate on how I am going to swallow It or else I think I am going to choke on It. I wish I could just put them In my mouth and just swallow. Kinda like the scene from Sex In the city 2 where Samantha has a handful of pills thats shes getting ready to swallow and her friend says OMG! your gonna swallow all those? And Samantha says “Have we met“? I think thats funny.
But I seriously have that problem. I have to crush my pills and put them In apple sauce, but If It’s a capsule, forget It, I’m taking forever to get It down.
I’m getting better, but I used to ask if I could get them in liquid form if they were available, even injections...
Like now, It took me over an hour to actually get the nerve to swallow my antibiotic cause I’m afraid of choking.

hahaha, you freak ![]()
Lola..I wish they had liquid form, It would make life so much easyer for me to take pills.
Franie, I read a tip that helps me, after you put the pill in your mouth, then take a drink , look downwards at your glass while you are getting a drink. For some reason, it goes down much easier. (Instead of raising your head and looking upwards, seems to work! )
Thank you Dianne
I’m just a wimp when It comes to swallowing pills I guess.
I can swallow, but the other night, I was taking a tiny pill and it got stuck on my tonsil! What a horrible feeling and of course, I was trying to cough it up.
I agree. I wish they’d give us these med in liquid form. Better yet, I will take a trans-dermal patch ANYDAY so I don’t have to take my thyroid pills on a daily basis.....which I don’t anyway, because I forget! Haven’t had ‘em in two days now!
I couldn’t swallow pills for the longest time. I too have my tonsils and there enlarged due to tonsillitis. But I did find a remedy that helps me take pills. I use a large straw. You know the kind they use at McD’s they are larger than most fast food restaurants. Anyway I fill my glass with water I take one pill at a time and put it on my tongue take the straw and tilt it up to the roof of your mouth and suck the water in, keeping you head straight. I can’t take a pill without a straw or I’ll choke, but the stream of the water from the straw takes the pill and it goes down pretty easy.
You can buy dishwasher safe straws at coffee shops and kitchen stores.
Frannie I hope this works, I know what your going through I use to crush mine and put them on strawberry jam that was the only way I could get them down put then my butt got big and so I tried some new.
Until next time...![]()

Just a word of warning ladies here if your taking powerful drugs for a specific medical complaint don’t crush your medication as this makes it more potent and can an accidental overdose or flood your stomach with the drug and cause a reaction - learn this the hard way crushing some chemo tablets !
Yes, I did back when my GERD was acting up again and I finally went on a good stomach medicine..it would not be a bad idea to speak to your doctor about this, sometimes trouble swallowing could be an indication of something.
Thank you for that Information UK Girl![]()
I know on some medicine bottle It will say don’t crush medication.
But i really do hope someday they can make almost all meds liquid form or a shot, I don’t like needles but heck, to me that would be easyer then trying to swallow.
Thank you Ladies for all the suggestions, I do appriciate all of them.
I am actually doing pretty good so far with the capsules. Not great, but good.
