Limit your intake. Read labels. Read up on Diabetes. That’s what I did. Now I don’t eat as much sugar.
Good for you. I also limit my sugar as it is not good for you since it causes inflammation in the body. With the amount of diabetics and pre-diabetics in this country, I wish that the food industry would wake up and not put so much sugar in foods.
Reading labels, and more importantly “understanding” them was not as easy as I thought.
Being diabetic, It’s so hard to give up sugar. I sometimes have a treat for myself but as long as I exercise It off, or just eat a small portion, but too totally give up sugar Is hard, well for me It Is. And I have to watch out for the carbohydrates, carbs turn Into sugar as well.
I might have diabetes (I’ll find out later this month) so I’ll have to be a lot more diligent about sugar and labels.
Frannie’s right that carbohydrates taken in excess will be a problem for diabetics. Alcohol turns to sugar almost immediately. It’s tough for me because I’m a confectioner but I don’t really indulge in much sugar. Everyting in moderation I guess but if there’s a predisposition for diabetes I can see the need to cut out sugar entirely.
I was diagnosed with diabetes November 2006! Read your labels...thanks to being aware I have not yet had to be on insulin. My sugar at my last check up was 126. Yes still diabetic levels but just over borderline,no need for insulin! Thank God! I can control it...
Very wise, I really need to try harder to listen and to follow at least you ladies are a good example of what i should do. If i could get rid of my sugar addiction, i bet i would lose 20 lbs.
I actually had a doctor tell me that if I’d just lose 20 pounds my chance of diabetes would be gone.
Type II diabetes runs in my family, so I have become very diligent about sugar and carbs. I lost 12 lbs in the last 2 yrs and am going to lose about 8 more to get to my healthy goal weight. Not dieting, per se, but making food choices wisely, portion control and exersizing regularly. And I feel really good!
