    • A friend of mine just had a hysterectomy.  She had her ovaries taken too.  She was reading some things about what women go through after a hysterectomy and told me that that I should be going through menopause soon due to my hysterectomy over a year ago.  They left my ovaries.  I have not had any symptoms but was wondering about this.

    • My doctor told me menopause would happen whenever it would have naturally, even without uterus. It’s been over four years and I don’t think I’m quite through-perimenopause-yes, total menopause-no. Doctor said we could have hormone levels checked to make sure when I wanted. Usually when ovaries are left in they keep producing hormones until you would have menopause naturally. If you have a total hysterectomy you are in menopause right away if you weren’t already.
