Q & A

Where are all the “Save the Gulf” concerts?? Where are the TV benefits with
celebrities and musicians giving heart felt speeches on the poor
fishermen, wildlife, beaches, loss of income and sabotaged gulf economy??
I find it rather strange how these people (including our own ...government)
... are so quick to help Haiti and other countri......es...but sit on their asses for this one.

    • I guess their feeling the impact of this resession too lol! No but on a serious note, the government has all the money all they have to do is print up some to get this issue rectified ASAP! I think its their fault anyhow notthat I have been following the story but I smell an oily fish in the white house.ohhhh (DID I SAY THAT!?)

    • Totally agree with you on this one.  They were so quick to help Haiti.  I saw on CNN that Sean Penn has pretty muched moved over there to help out, and took his kids too.  I did see Edward James Olmos on AC/360 last night.  He was there and told AC that ALL of his family owns boats and are ready to VOLUNTEER to start clean up and the gov’t. won’t let them.  What the hell??????????

Also, I do not understand why Obama has not spoke with Tony Hayward.  He was interviewed on The Today show this morning and Matt Lauer asked him why and he stated that if he did talk with Tony Hayward he would just tell him what he wants to hear.  I still think he should speak with him face to face IMO.

    • My belief is that I would NOT want to donate funds for this because BP and the rest of the responsible parties would feel like they could get off the hook for paying if we were willing to foot the bill!!!  Let them pay, they screwed it up!

    • I saw on CNN that Kevin Costner has invested 24M of his own money on some sort of device that helps with the clean up.  For some reason that I don’t understand he hasn’t been given the “go ahead” to help out.  There are soooo many people who are offering to help out and the gov’t and BP has said no so far.  Why????????

    • I so agree that BP and the other companies should have to pay for the clean up BUT the shore line and wildlife are not the only thing affected.  People are out of work because offshore drill has shut down.  Tourism is being affected in the tourist areas so people there are seeing a slow down.  Fishing areas have been closed so people that have relied on that for their income have that lost, which by the way they can’t get unemployment, most of them work for themselves.  It will take years before any of the lawsuits that have been filed to even be heard and then guess who gets the majority of the money, the lawyers.  So where is the help for our own people?

    • I so completely agree!! You phrased it so perfectly momoftheprincess. It’s so heartbreaking to see fishermen crying about losing their only means of income to support their families or see the dying animals on the beaches covered in oil. It’s great to help other countries with their disasters but we should be just as quick with helping our own country in times of need. And why is the government saying no to help?
