    • I bought a cuisinart ice cream maker a few years ago. I use it a lot. I know that store bought ice cream is really economical and there are so many flavors to choose from but there’s something about homemade ice cream that I like. My granddaughter likes to stand on a stool and watch the machine go around. And, I use milk instead of cream and keep the sugar under control so it’s better for her.

    • They‘re really great. And if you don’t like ice cream there are recipes for frozen drinks and also for sorbets that use water instead of dairy. I only use 1/2 cup of organic sugar in nearly a quart of ice cream and it’s so rich that just one little scoop is plenty.

    • I don’t have an ice cream maker. But growing up we had a manual one where you had to churn the maker. It was called an ice cream freezer in those days. And boy the texture and richness of those various ice creams my Mom and I used to make were out of this world. heart

Of course we had help because making 2 or 3 tubs of soursop or coconut ice cream was hard work. And you had to use lots of ice and the secret to bringing in the ice cream was adding salt to the ice. Also we’d make enough to share with our neighbors. Boy those were the days... heart

    • Oh, Miamor, I remember those old fashion wonderful ice cream freezers. I dated a man years ago who had one and the rule of the house was, if you didn’t take a turn at the crank you didn’t get any ice cream! We made fresh peach one day and it was a taste of heaven.

    • Actually I do have one and in 8 years I’ve only used it twice.  My poor husband, he deserves better.

In fact, I met my husband at a homemade icecream party.  Many many years ago I used to have two of the old hand crank variety and every so often we’d make homemade icecream and invite friends over.  Hubby happened to be one of the people my (now ex) husband invited over.

I had an Oster brand electric one many years ago.  I used it once, then moved and lost parts of it, but it had a great recipe for orange sherbet with it that used real orange juice.  Wish I had that recipe again.

    • I also have a cuisinart ice cream which I bought at Bed Bath and beyond on sale with a coupon. I love it. At first I used it more for ice cream, but now I use it for making yogurt and sobert with fruit before it goes bad, left over water mellons, peaches, strwberries, etc...
