    • We see my husband’s granddaughter a lot. She and her mother live in our cottage. And, frankly, my stepdaughter often times has no interest in being a mother. So, between my husband and I and his ex-wife our granddaughter is basically being raised by us. She’s about to go into kindergarten and I was talking with my husband’s ex this morning about a schedule of taking her and picking her up from school. I wonder if my stepdaughter will wake up one day and realize just how much of her daughter’s life she’s missed and, most importantly, if she’ll even care.

    • Linni, it’s wonderful to see them often, isn’t it?

Dianne, will you be able to see your grandbaby a lot or do they live far away?

    • Dianne’s right, Cynthia, you‘re an angel.

I have 3 grandchildren - they lived near me until last year, and I saw them all the time. They recently moved, and if I can make it work, I’m going to try to move to be near them. Not to interfere, but I just want to be there as they grow up. I want to be an integral part of their lives.

    • Cynthia, my daughter and her hubby live about 2.5 hrs away, and want to move back here if they can find jobs here, but until then, have to stay where their work is...  I plan on seeing them often. They come home a couple times a month now.

    • My husband has two grandchildren that we’ve never even had the opportunity to meet.  heartbreak  We get the occassional photos, but that’s it.  Hubby won’t make the effort to go see them and his son is just the same, won’t make the effort to come here.  So....

Cynthia, your granddaughter is a very lucky little girl to have such awesome grandparents in the picture.

    • I have one - Calleigh she was just born 12/2/09.  Unfortunately she is in Missouri and I'm in Nevada so I only get to see her a couple of times a year and only for a day or so when I am home.......

My husband has a grandson, Mason
and unfortunately he lives back in Indiana with his mother and we don’t get to see them but a couple of times a year too.  My husband was divorced from his daughters mother when she was just a child herself and went through years of not being able to see his son or daughter due to custody battles.  So unfortunately they have estranged relationship and we are always on pins and needles as to if she will even see us......

We are hoping to move back closer to home when the economy gets better but with the job market the way it is and both of us just starting over from previous divorces etc financially we just can not afford the move right now.

    • Now days it seems to be a common occurance for children to be raised by grandparents, and lucky for the children that they have them. I have two grandsons in tn, that im lucky if i get to see a couple of times a year, now grandson here that i have allready missed two years of his life. My angel that lives with me at the moment with her parents.
Don has one granddaughter, 5 mos old, that we get to see some, lucky for us, we are the ones her mother likes cause his son isnt really involved with the girl like he should be.
I have cried rivers over my grandchildren, that is where all my stress is coming from thease days. I love them all. But i so wished i didnt feel like i was missing out on so much. And theres not enough me for all thease babies, 5 babies in two yrs. And another on the way, daughter in law has miscarried four babies and wont stop having them.
