    • No, how do you go about it? And what does it cost?

    • Not yet but we are planning on getting it done very soon. Dianne, an attorney can do a will for you and a funeral home makes the arrangements. You pre-pay for the funeral. Our attorney said it is about $400.00 for a will and the funeral depends on what you want.

    • I’m dragging my feet on the will part.  I did finally download a template sort of thing.  We don’t have much so it won’t take long to do once I make up my mind to do it.  I should set the kids all down and tell them there will be no inheritance except for this shack we live in which has almost zero resale value.

As for funeral arrangements, some people just write down what they would like, some people prepay the funeral expenses.

My mom has some things written down.  I really haven’t given it much thought.  I told my kids to do whatever they want for me, I won’t micro manage from the grave.

    • Dianne, any will is legit if you sign it and have it notarized, even if it’s scribbled on notebook paper.  At least that’s what I was told when my kids were little.

    • I don’t have these things, but have so little assets I just don’t think about it much.  I want half to go to my daughter and half to go to my brother so he can give it to her when she’s a responsible adult.

    • I’ve told my kids I want no funeral, no memorial just cremate me and split the ashes or throw ‘em out...no will yet, need to get it done, I will put my oldest down as the main heir and he can divvy up everything, I trust he would be fair with his brothers.

    • This is usually a subject we don’t think about until we need it.  Most of my friends have trusts set up with every detail in that.  We have lost everything we owned, except for our cars that are paid off, so I guess we feel the same as some of you here - there’s nothing to inherit!

Legalzoom.com has forms you complete online.  Not sure of the cost, supposed to be less expensive than an attorney.  Funeral arrangements - if you have specific plans, you should have them prepared ahead of time.  I keep reminded my hubby that I want DNR (do not resuscitate)and to be cremated, with my ashes spread across the ocean.
