Q & A

If a friend and business colleague said hurtful things to you, then ended the relationship with insensitivity and soon after you started noticing others who are friends with both of you are now turning cool, if not ignoring you all together...but not your friend...AND knowing all along that you had done nothing to deserve the confrontation in the first place. What would you do...think...or say?

I would be really hurt as well, but I would take the high road and distance myself from both of them until things cool down.  If the other colleages are shallow enough to believe this person without further investigation, then they are not worth your time and attention.

    • I would be really hurt!  I’m not sure if there is anything you can say, you might just have to wait until this storm has passed.  Or is there someone you really trust who you can talk to that will stand up for you and tell the truth to the people who are turning cold to you?  Good luck with this problem.

    • I would follow Kristi advice - this has happened to me and I just sat it out knowing she would show her true colours and she did eventually.

My ex friend was toxic with a capital T after I just shut down and I just said nothing and carried on with my life

    • Thank you for your advice...I hope you are right...but it seems she is coming back from her sabbatical like the queen returning from awful lot of hoop-la is being made. The woman is a chameleon changing to suit the people she is in contact with, playing as many pity cards as she can and rants about how she hates it when others are not authentic or fake, when she is fake or as changeable herself. If I had known the chameleon could also turn in to a snake, I would have made sure I didn’t put out my hand so it could get bitten. I guess that makes me a fool, doesn’t it?

I have wasted enough time on this it is time to move on. I hope one day the others who so easily fall at her feet in admiration do see that she is a chameleon/snake too.

      Thanks for the responses.
