    • I used to have a ritual every year; buy a new journal, read through the one from the past year and then destroy it or leave it in a trash bin in a distant city. It was a way for me to leave the past behind and start anew.

It’s been awhile since I’ve kept a journal but I always found it to be very healing.

I had an old boyfriend who read my journal once. I was so angry I hit him over the head with a telephone and then kicked him out of my house telling him he’d better not every step foot at my doorstep again!

    • I do keep a journal and hope that after I am gone my kids and grand kids will read it and have a better understanding of what made me tic. But also there will be records of dates and milestones of important events, like how I felt after they graduated high school, or the day they received their drivers license.

    • heartIm like honeypot88,I have journals that I write in daily and tell my random thoughts in. I decorated some pages they have pictures in them with stories ect and when it’s full I tie and seal with a bow or something put it in a box that is the same size label it and put it away. I never open or look at it again those are for my surviving family. And it tells it all and how I truly feel or felt.

    • While looking for some papers I found a journal that I wrote when I found out that I was going to have my first daughter.  Being 18 unsure of getting married for all the wrong reasons I realized that I made it through that.  I have another that I started last May.  I have not written in it for a few months but I do need to.  I do find it relaxing.  I am not sure how I would feel about someone reading it though.  My thoughts are my own.  Its my pain and joy on the paper.  If it happened after I was gone I wouldn’t care.

    • Oh yeah, I definitely thought about how I’d feel if the ex or my kids read my journals. I  thougnt they wouldn’t understand me any better so I tossed them into the burn pit years ago and stopped keeping one. Now that I’m single again, I have thought of starting a new one. It helps to read what I’ve written to decide what changes I need to make.

I have a few that I wouldn’t want anyone to read. I have one of letters that I never intend to send, and an anger journal. I wouldn’t want anyone to read those 2. LOL

    • Not for many years, my exhusband read mine, we had a terrible fight over the contents. I did not get it back. I said he should never have invaded my privacy wife or no wife. I believe that some things like expressing ones private feelings should remain private unless you wish to make a revelation or ” play true confession” fine. I have not written a journal since. Did I mention we divorced? estatic
