Did you learn to swim as an adult or a child and who taught you?
I learned to swim under the age of five too and learned with my family at our ‘cottage’ by the river. I’ve had my son in the pool (non-chlorine!) since he was 4 months old and now, at 6, he is a very confident swimmer.
He takes lessons at the Y and he is in with the 9 yrs olds!
My husband was a competitive swimmer (and lifeguard) so I guess that probably helps.
We had a pool built in our backyard. Before it was finished my mother signed me up for lessons at a neighbor’s house.
I took swimming lessons sixteen years ago. It made me slightly less terrified of the water, but I still do not think I could swim enough to save my life.

I learned when I was 8 -10. I took lessons at the Y. I remember the pool was freezing!
as an adult, and it isn’t graceful, so i won’t do it unless there are no other people around, my kids can watch, they laugh at me, i laugh at me too
I took lessons as a child, for some reason outgrew my confidence and came to believe I couldn’t swim. Currently, I’m smack dab in the middle of beginners lessons, am working on improving form and am enjoying the new experience. The instructors are a little over half my age and are competitive swimmers. What I’m learning too from them is there is no “wrong” way to swim just easier ways to do it.
