Okay! NEW question! WHAT do you fix for a Labor Day get-together? It’s an odd holiday. We KNOW what to cook the crowd on Thanksgiving, Easter, a birthday, right? I’m trying to come up with something fun, original, tasty and not killer hard :)
Traditionally it is the last BBQ of the summer season. If the kids aren’t back in school already, they will be returning soon. This may be the last chance to have a fun party without any stress. If the weather is going to be hot, I prefer to serve a crisp cold salad, marinated grilled swordfish or tuna steaks and rice pilaf (you can do a fried rice, but it is more “labor” intensive). Email me if you want ideas for marinating the fish or meat of your choice.
Pot Luck! And let the men do the bbq. Easy ideas are seafood and veggie skewers, but a marinated London broil is nice too so there’s something for everyone’s tastes. You can
split a chicken (butterfly it) and “roast” it in the bbq on low. If you don’t have a grill, pop it in the oven. Veggies, some roasted potatoes (drizzle with olive oil & sprinkle with spices)
and watermelon for dessert is easy.
As Tobi says, it’s the last hurrah of the summer, so the food is still summer simple.

Pot luck here. We have a communiy get together. A few of the guys get drunk and burn the burgers and hot dogs. The women all bring a salad or dessert and Bob does his spicy beans.
