Q & A

Big question - can you help me.
As some of you know I have a site and I cover every size in dresses and clothing now - just on a point of etiquette do people who ear beyond a size 16 like the word plus sizes or do they just wish people treated them as a normal shopper but showed a wider choice in sizing beyond size 16 .........

    • I don’t want to pigeon hole people and I also don’t want to do a section which is just aimed at size 16 and beyond as I think this must turn consumers off ....

      All help gratefully received

    • I think, “curvy women sizes” is more flattering than, “plus sizes“.

    • Hi UKGirl,

It is what it is I’m a plus size woman who is beyond a size 16, even when I wore a 16 I was still consider a plus size and it mattered to me not what they called it just as long as the fashions were nice and not making us look like we were always wearing those awful moo moos lol.

I agree with Denise...as long as they are fashionable...nice looking and fit correctly....that is all that matters.  I wouldn’t care what they called it..as long as I can find it!

    • While I am almost wearing a plus size (14), I know that it has always bothered me the emphasis on the size needing special words. That said in today’s world to attract the potential customer I would use what words were common in the market place

    • Well, Marie.... we do need some description of body size to choose clothes to fit us. There
is a big difference between a “Junior” and a “Misses” and a “Womens” in sizes. I had a heck of a time finding womens jeans because the size scale changed. I was shocked I fit into a pair of “passed on jeans” labeled size 4. Which size 4? I have a pair of hand me down jeans
that is a size 12, the “Misses” size. A bit big so when I bought a new pair of jeans I bought a size 9. Still big on me. Now I’ve found a Levi brand of “curvy” juniors size 7 that do fit well. I’m not curvy but reviews on these jeans were written by some like me and it helped me find my size of this jeans. Good luck to me on another style of jeans! LOL

    • Well, every online store like Chadwicks, Newport News tags things over a certain size “Womens” and anything below 16 “Misses” That may help in a sense if you‘re worried about sensitivity. But stores like Lands End, Sears and NY & Company tag clothing over size 16 as Plus Size and use plus sized models. Woman Within aka Lane Bryant, and Roaman’s deal with size 16 on up exclusively so they just use the numbers or Med (16-18) Lg (18-20) and so on. I wear a 14 so I’m just a regular “Large” and when I want more room I just get XL.

    • Well Vicki I already know that I am plus, woman size, fluffy, pleasantly plump, big n beautiful or what ever word you want to call it (just not over the hill and fat!). So I certainly do not need to be reminded of that as I am getting ready to spend MY money. Why make me think of anything other than spending money? Isn’t that the goal and purpose? To seperate me from whats in my pocketbook? So why bring up other issues and insult me at the same time?

(Sorry...feeling a bit fiesty...but this is my sincere and honest answer)

I don’t mind Plus Sizes. I’ve been a plus size woman for many years, I’m not ashamed or embarrassed about that. I wouldn’t mind ordering from the petite section one of these years, but for now. Plus Size Is for meestaticheart

    • Well again I’m proud to say I’m a BIG girl and we BIg girls “ROCK!!!” not taking anything from a woman who may be a size 0 or a size 2, but we do look just as good with all our curves and waves in anything we put on IF!, we know how to apply it properly. And yes if they make it in our size we CAN wear it, but only if its done in good taste.estatic

    • You can count me in as a plus size woman...I don’t mind shopping in that section as that is what I am...I do hate going into a store and seeing something that I like and finding out that they don’t make it in the plus size range...very frustrating...I find that we plus sized woman are limited in what is available to us...unless you have the money that is...I guess what I am saying is fashionable clothing that IS affordable.
