    • I received a call from a telemarketer at 7:30 am EST. Personally I would never call anyone that early unless it was an emergency or expected.

    • For family and friends—too early is 6-7 am unless it’s an emergency.  If my phone rings that early, it scares the crap outta me cause I think something’s happened.

too late is after 10 or 10:30 pm.  Pretty much after that, I’m in the bed, maybe not asleep yet, but I’m winding down.

I could be very impolite if someone calls in between the hours that I deem too early and too late!!

    • I am available for my family 24/7.  Some members of my family lives in different parts of the world, therefore the time zones play an important part, and for them no problem, I am fine with that.

Apart from the family and the sacrifice, phone calls to friends would probably start out between 9 am. and ends around 10 pm.  Mind you, I do have a couple friends that we can call each other at anytime, but it would only be in the case of either an emergency or when one of us, desparately needs to talk something out.

    • I’m going to agree with Daphne, also. Same guidelines.

I was awakened on a Sunday morning at 4:30 by a telemarketer. He was calling from the East coast and didn’t realize that Hawaii was five hours behind. But, even though he apoligized profusely I informed him that any company who would have their employees make calls on a Sunday would never get my business anyway.

    • Cynthia, I love that last line! Priceless!
I am NOT a telephone person at all. But, I pretty much agree with Daphnes’ guidelines.
If you call me after 10 p.m., you’d better have a darn good reason. Or be drunk!
And for me, a personal pet peeve is the person that calls and lets your phone ring. And ring. And ring. And ring. They keep calling and hanging up on your voice mail, then they call back repeatedly. Then, when you finally talk to them, they give you the “I tried to call you but you didn’t answer your phone” crap. I tell them that “there was a reason I did not answer, respect that“.

    • Jacquie,
recently they lifted the privacy clause on cell phones.

Telemarketers are supposted to take into consideration what time zone you live in and not the one where they call from.

I tell people don’t call me before 9am on weekends or after 1030pm on weeknights.

I say, Gee, I’m really busy right now but give be your home phone number and what time you eat dinner and I’ll call you back.

I’m really good at doing the voice of that recording you get when you dial a number that is dis-connected. I sometimes do it. The silence on the other end is deafening!

Friends and family can call anytime but are sensitive that if they call at an odd hour it will scare me a bit.

    • If you have not registered to the National Do Not Call List, please consider.  You can even register your call phone for some unknown reasons, they call on my cell phone too.

For those who are doing telemarketing or cold call, they have to abide to the Do Not Call List.  They need to check against phone # if it on the DND list.

If they call, asked for what company, and if you said you were to tell on them, trust me, you will never receive any more calls.  It may take a month but it will substantially decrease.

As for personal calls, same with Daphne unless they are good friends and I know their daily schedules.

    • Because the baby has his own schedule and he’s now not sleeping thru the night, I try to catch my sleep when he does, so I prefer that people don’t call me before 10 am on any day..11 am if I could get away with it..lol

the evenings, the kids can have calls up to 7:30pm..amd then that’s cut off for them...the adult time would be about 10:30, but we rarely get calls anyway...

If our phone rings too early or too late, I do go into panic mode and think something is wrong...Late night calls break me out into a cold sweat and I get paranoid because the guy I was dating who was abusive, used to call every night..ALL night long during his drunken state..just to call me names and keep me up all night...It wasn’t a very good time in my life..so I still get a little paranoid...
