    • He said his plan is to sell the biz to his right hand man.  I was like “and I’m going to..............“.  At first he said I would stay on but last night he said “well he couldn’t imagine him retiring and me not“.  Whew!  LOL  But, it’s kinda scary not having the $$ come in that your used to.   Do you think your financially ready/able to retire and live comfortable on your retirement income?

    • ok ladies!  listen up!  I learned this lesson the hard way!!!lol......I want you to ask yourselves what is the longest period of time you and hubby and been together, such as vacations, etc....do you remember ever havin quite enough of him??     but you knew he was going back to work, so there was light at the end of the tunnel.

I just believe that it can go very well, or it may not. And I always ask girls this question when they speak of hubby retiring.

mine did not retire.......but he quit working due to a disability. he could stillget around, could drive, etc.....but he refused to do anything at home!! so just make sure hubby has pleanty of hobbies, etc....

That being said - he’ll not completely retire. He’s been consulting for a company in the summer for the past 20 years and plans to take more work with them after retirement. He’ll also help a recruiting company search for administrators for private schools. He’s not the type to just sit around.

I’m going back to school in January. I’ll finish college in a few years with a degree of some type. I want to be able to secure some health insurance when we retire. Joe will get medicare but I’ll have another 9 years to pay insurance on my own.

    • My husband plans on retiring in 5 to 6 more years.  Since he will be old enough that’s fine.  I work 2 part time jobs now, so I’m gone a lot here lately.  But, my goal is let him retire.  Get him in the routine of dishes, laundry, cooking, etc.  THEN, I’ll retire 6 years later.  He’s 6 years older than me, so I think he’ll need that time to learn to do some of these things.  He’s got dishes and laundry down okay.  He’s cooking well let’s just say, it’s a good thing he’s not a chef! LOL

    • My husband will be 50 next year.  He’s already had two back surgeries and a full knee replacement in ‘07.  The knee replacement is still giving him pain and trouble because he’s pretty hard on it being that he still works a very physical job sometimes climbing 120 feet in the air with that fake knee.  Not easy for a healthy person.  So...I cannot see him working to full retirement age.  Our goal is for him to stick it out for another 8 years until our house is paid for.  When that happens...if he retires on disability...and I’m still working ...we’ll be fine! Or if he finds a another job that is not quite as physical such as teaching (which he has done before)we would be fine!  Right now...we are working on making our home as maintenance free as possible.  Getting everything done to the house that we want to make it suitable for senior citizens that we will soon become!!!estatic
For me...I might officially retire one day but even after retirement I will be doing something with my days.  But I will be at the beach A LOT!!

    • After all the (physical) troubles i’ve had over the past 6 years, i’ve decided (and informed huz) that i’ll be retiring December 31st, 2017 (if i make it that long).  I’d have never believed that doing hair would be as physically demanding as it has been and take the toll on my body that it has.  I’m learning similar lessons to that, too...all those things my mother, father, older friends told me not to do or i’d be sorry later...they were right.  I’m NOT above it and i’m sorry i didn’t pay heed to their warnings!

    • I am involuntarily retired due to health. I wish I was still working so that I could pick and choose when I'd retired someday, but it was decided for me. I can keep busy without getting in trouble most of the time.
