    • I remember climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa around age 6.  My brothers and I were fearlessly leaning out the window as my dad grabbed us back towards safety!  We kids thought it was so fun!  My mom was terrified.

    • At Camp River CLiff Mother Dear, Big Daddy, Momma, Aunt Nina, Uncle Harry, Sharond, Boo Boo,  and Uncle Lavelle came to see me a family and friends day. I awed them with my ability to swim and jump off the small cliff among the tadpoles that lurked and the fish and mussels. They took films. The day was beautiful warm, filled with sunshine and blue sky. The lush green of the forest that surrounded us near by. The Food was actually good that day, no beans or applesaue. I over came my fear by learning to swim in the  river and well. My family came to support me it was a fabulous day!estatic

    • Walking across the Rio Grande River into Mexico, the river is behind my grandparents house, when the water was low we could walk across and we would have the water at most up to our thighs.

Also after school with 50 cents in hand we would walk across the bridge into Mexico, 10 cents to go and 5 cents to return, 35 cents was enough for half a dozen tacos, a coke and a frozen treat.

It was safe, we were carefree as we walked in and out of shops...nowadays it is too dangerous to go into any of the border towns. My last visit home we sat in the back yard as we heard gunfire, bombs, and grenades going off right across from my brother’s house.

Much of this border violence doesn’t make it into the mainstream news outlets.
