Q & A

Has anyone used an online lender to buy a car?  Who did you use?  I just called my bank and they said their interest rates were between 12-16%, which seems pretty high to me.  Any other suggestions as to where to go to get a good auto loan?

    • Diane, I haven’t used an online lender, but I was thinking that most auto dealerships are offering really low rates these days and you may want to check them out?

    • Check out USAA. They have incredible service and they have a sweepstakes right now that if you apply, you can end up with a new car and $10,000. Good luck!

    • We go to our local bank and have never used an online lender. That rate seems really high but if it is used (depending on the year) the rates will be higher and credit score can also be a factor as to your rate. As Cathie said check with the dealer your buying the car from as they may be able to get you a lower rate.

    • Just an update on this.  I found a credit union in town with an interest rate of only 5.75% so I got a pre-approved loan with them.  If I go to a dealer to buy a car, I’ll ask them what their rate is too though.

Hopefully I won’t have to buy a car, my wonderful hubby is going to try to fix my car which got hit by a deer tomorrow.
