The reason I ask is my daughter is a bookkeeper and looking to set up a home business to generate a little extra income, but she’s not sure what people are looking for or quite how to market herself. She’d appreciate any suggestions.

Yes we do as it saves us having someone on our payroll - if she targets companies with say 4/5 employees she will find work - plus if she gets references.
I used someone because the initial sales pitch was showing how much of a saving it would make ....

We use an outside payroll service. I do all the billing here. We use Quickbook’s and people are always telling me I can do payroll on QB’s pretty easy but I don’t want to take on the extra task. If she plans on doing someone’s payroll then I’d say she’d have to really be up on taxes, etc. Perhaps she can put an add in the local paper or a site like Craigs List?? First I’d say she needs to define what it is she has to offer to her clients.
