Q & A

Does anyone have a hairstylist that ALWAYS shows up 30-40 min. late? I have been going to the same person 3 yrs she has me waiting all the time. Last time she asked me to get there 1/2 earlier then the  scheduled time. She was still 45. min late-I have brought it up she laughs-I still tip 20% so she doesnt care. Ive decided to change stylists-would you change even if you like her work?

    • No, I’ve been going to the same girl for probably 15 years and she’s never done me like that.  I’m usually the one that’s late!  I would find a new hairdresser for sure.

    • I would change as you made the comment and she laughed and you keeping tipping her so I hate to say your condoning her bad behaviour and she will always treat you like this.

Ask around and you’ll find someone besides in this economy loads of folk would be hungry for the work.

    • If you really like her,..
I would have a serious conversation with her. Let her know that your time is very limited and that you need her to be on time. As much as you love her work, if she can’t be on time, you will have to look for another hairs stylist.
If she values you as a client she will certainly make an extra effort to be on time or even early.

    • You are far nicer than I am.  I definitely wouldn’t have tipped her if she was late.  If she was more than 10 min late more than once, I’d find someone else.  Life’s too short to waste your time like that.

    • Me too tulip, I have no patience. I dread even going at all, but you know we have to keep the locks looking good.
If I had to wait, it probably wouldn’t be pleasant for my hairdresser.
It is very disrespectful, it’s also very hard to find a hairdresser that you really like and trust.
I would certainly have a serious chat with her and let her know that if having you as a client isn’t a priority for her, you will just have to look for a replacement.
As a professional, she shouldn’t have to be put on notice, but sometimes people just take great clients for granted and we have to let them know, that you are part of the reason they are able to pay their bills.

    • change, there are many other stylists who give a better service and be more deserving of your tipping.  after three years she has shown you lack of professionalism, poor courtesy manners, and hindsight especially since you have been with her for 3 years.  an explanation would fall on deaf ears and be a waste of time. find someone else.  male hairdressers are wonderful...
