True Sceanrio: Today at work the hairdresser asked me my opinion on her issue with her daughters boyfriends family, they are some very dominant people who want what they want and expect to get it no matter what. Ok here is the thing, the daughter is 26 and so is the guy both are engineers and he is being sent over seas by his job to China on a mission for 2 years, during the Thanksgiving holiday he was out of town and his family called her (the girlfriend) to invite her to come have dinner with them, her mom told them she couldn’t make it because she was spending time with her family and the daughter agreed with her mom, so the grandfather to the boyfriend makes a second call demanding her presence for dessert, even though the boyfriend is out of town, the girls mom got upset because the family seems to be quite pushy and demanding and their not even married or even talked of it yet, again he is going to be gone for two years over seas and his family is expecting her to wait for him, is this far what is your opinions on this?
I totally agree Bernadette and I shared that with her mom today, but she claims that he is not like his family, but I feel he will display those same attributes once they marry if she marries him.
She needs to change her number as quickly as possible! There’s a saying “the acorn does not fall far from the tree.” The odds are great that he is just like they are when all is said and done.
I agree with the ladies plus if they are this pushy with her imagine when they are married and unless this guy is strong they will just get steamrollered.

I agree with all that has been said, I just pray it all works out and the separation will open the daughter’s eyes and she’d want to move on. Thanks ladies for your input.
This is a serious problem. When I say serious I mean it is the start of a whole slew of things. Imagine this type of control from them and they are not married. When they get married or have kids it is going to be an ongoing battle. Just for Thanksgiving Dinner they want her there even though he is not there. When the kids come they will want them there, they will want a 100% in the baby shower, wedding, house choosing, naming of the baby the list goes on and on so this is an eye opener to look wayyyyyyyyyyy down into the lens and look at every detail after this incident.
I couldn’t imagine being controlled by the boyfriend much less his family. I would make like horse crap and hit the trail.
Oh good... it’s not just me that thinks this can’t be good if they‘re not even engaged. It is creepy to me too.
