Q & A

If you have a treadmill, do you actually use it?  I’m thinking about getting one as it’s way too cold where we live to go walking...but am afraid if I buy one, it will just sit there...

    • I love my treadmill! I use it nearly every day. I’m actually training for a half marathon with it. My workouts change daily with inclines or different speeds. Lots of features and it wasn’t a very expensive one. When it rains my husband and I both use it.

    • I used to have one. And it was used for a garment rack!!!! However that was before I was serious about my health and I just worked.

Now I think I would like one but need to wait for one of my kids to move out so I can put it in their room. Hmmmmmmm......... Maybe if I buy it and put it in their room and use it regularly.....especially at 7am..........hmmmmmm..... the plot thickensestatic

    • Dianne, I had one too and it was used as a clothes rack also.tongue out  I would suggest you look on Craigs List or in your local paper for a good used one.  People buy them all the time and use them like I did and then get rid of them cheap.happy

    • I would like one, but I don’t have the room for one. When the weather is bad I end up walking in circles in the house for exercise so I don’t stiffen up from the lack of moving around.

    • I prefer to walk outdoors-but sometimes, even in SoCal, the weather isn’t good.  Or I’m waiting for callbacks from people I don’t want to miss-so using my tread is essential.  My husband has also been using it the last 2-3 months.

when weather permits-I’m out there, but it does get used a lot.  I had an elliptical before it and even though it’s supposed to be easier on your joints-everytime I used it, my sciatica would kick up!  then I couldn’t walk at all.  so for me, the tread is my friend

    • When I had a treadmill I definitely used it.  It finally wore out.  Now I have an elliptical machine and use it all the time.  You definitely have to have a set-up that encourages it being used and just get in a regular habit.

    • I wish I had one. I do have a stationary bike and when I feel like it, I hop on with the pedometer and do a couple of miles. I do a lot of walking to start with so I usually get my exercise that way. But with something indoors I wouldn’t have to bundle up and once through, step right into the shower. I would face the treadmill in front of a TV and getrdun!

    • I agree Kristi, that has happened with me also..my calves and thighs are strong, but for some reason I built up muscle without losing weight which is good in a sense, but it doesn’t help with the tummy bulge..I use mine twice a week and the rest of the time concentrate on mild aerobic dance and stretching.
