    • I did it last year on jan 1st.via letter..........just told her I would not be taking her along in 2010 as I have felt that the relationship was not equal anymore....I was not rude.not mean...wished her well.......but needed more in the way of friendship.

    • I have been contemplating this for a while with a friend.  The answer I came up with is like Vicky, I will be writing her a letter.  I cannot do her in 2011, it is to tiresome and draining.  It will do me good, time to move on and get more out of life.

    • Just stop total communication. In my case it has been rather easy.

    • heart I think a letter that is short, to the point, but kind is a good way to go.

    • Well, if they‘re really persistant and don’t see that I no longer care to have a friendship, I tell them why, in a nice a way.

    • I also stopped communication with a former friend of mine. I have let her back into my life too many times only to be used when she needed something or had a problem. I see her once in a while and she always says we need to get together and to call her. I tell her to call me and she never does which is fine with me!

    • I stopped communicating with a friend and it was okay. We ran into each other a year later and we were poltie. It was good to see her, but even better to not have to maintain communications with her. Sometimes letters can cuase more problems than just walking away. A letter may express your feelings but the response is dependent on someone else interrpting the letter and their response may not be in the spirit in which you write the letter.

    • Kmarie, I do agree a letter isn’t always the best way to go. If the person we want to let go is clueless of us, a letter could very easily be misinterpeted. We are talking about people we have known that are not on the same page as us, right?
