    • Oh boy, 1998 into 1999 and 2007 into 2008 were beyond horrendous...both illnesses left me with major ear problems, exacerbated my fibromyalgia and sent me to so many doctors..as a matter of fact I am still not 100% from the illness in 2008.frown

    • Sorry to hear that Denis, is it a lingering cough or ear problem?

    • When I was 13, I developed both the chicken pox and strep at the same time!  I was out of school for two weeks, and later, I had some cosmetic surgery on some of the chicken pox scars that were on my face - I had to wear a Band-Aid right between my EYES during a horse show - humiliating for a 13-year-old, ha ha!tongue out

    • I ended up with bronchitis while I was 8 1/2 months prgnant with my third child.  Of course they wouldn’t give me any drugs and I thought I was going to DIE!  Of course I got over it, but for a couple days I couldn’t even walk from my bed to my rocking chair without exhausting myself.

    • I would have to say when I had pneumonia. It lasted for over a week, and I ended up in the hospital.

    • Can’t remember the year but I had pneumonia so bad I had to spend 6 weeks home. First time in my life I ever lost consciousness and luckily it was in the doctor’s office. I got it like 2 weeks before Christmas and couldn’t return to work until February. I went damn near stir crazy being stuck inside, and when I ventured out for groceries and such, I was wrapped up like an Eskimo. Soon as I got back home, I’d have the chills and fever again for two days.

    • I remember....it was April 1986....a week before my first child’s first birthday.  I was sick with the stomach flue for one entire week...it was awful.  I actually begged God to take me...I wanted to die.  It was awful.  I barely made it through my son’s huge birthday party we had planned at the club house.  Then my husband got it the following week...same way...he wanted to die too.  WE will never forget that and we have never been that sick either.

    • I got food poisoning really bad in 1985.  I was in bed and couldn’t move. I thought I was going to die.  If I could have gotten up, I would have gone to the phone and called 911.  I was in bed all weekend and then I was okay, thank God.

    • Catfan:  I’ve had food poisoning too.  In fact Thanksgiving of 2006 most of my family...(including my sisters and their famlies) got it from what we have no idea.  We had so much food that day and not every single person got it so we still do not know.  I was out of work for a week.  Never threw up but had it the other end and had fever and felt like I had the flu.  My one sister on the other hand almost died.  She was in intensive care and tested for ecoli and salmonella.  We were the talk of University Hospital.  Family members were coming and going from the hospital to get fluids.  It was awful!

But I still was not as sick as I was in 1985.

    • Way back when I was in my late 20’s and early 30’s. I use to get alot of asthma attacks and a few times I got sick with the flu and it just made my asthma worse. It would move into my chest to where I could hardly breathe and my inhaler wouldn’t help at all, thats how bad it was. I had to go to the doctors and get on the machine that loosened up all the mucus I had in my chest and get 3 shots to help me breathe. Those were the worst times, I thought for sure each time I was going to stop breathing.worried It was scarey to me. I haven’t had an asthma attack in many many yearshappyheart I am so greatful, not sure how that happened but I am thankful it did. so now I make sure to get the flu shot or as soon as I feel like I’m getting sick, I take care of it right away.

    • Well the flu has now hit the Clark household as of today.  I guess that is what I get for talking about it....LOL.
Mr. C has it and I don’t know which is worse the fact that he has it or the moaning and groaning I keep hearing from him...he says his headache is the worst he’s ever had.
And to add to that...we have a winter storm coming tonight and we might get stuck inside for a few days...with the mighty flu....awesome!!

    • When I was 19 I was at college plus working two jobs and a business so literally burning the candle both ends and in the February had an abscess in a tooth which was just excruciating agony and the flu - I was completely run down and I was in bed for a week on every known drug - I lost over 16lbs in one week and the tooth .... I have never let myself get so run down again since as I still remember this vividly ......ohhhh

    • Well...Mr. C is still sick.  His fever went up to 103 last night but finally broke.  He acted like he felt a little better earlier this morning but has now started to feel really bad again.  Now...we are dealing with the gastric issues.
GREAT!!! So now I get to sterilize my house on my snow day.
Thank goodness I have one of those SHARK steamers that does sterilize everything.
