Q & A

Is there any way to get hard strong fingernails?  I stopped biting my nails before Christmas and they are growing so slow and are so soft and bendy.  Nail polish seems to make them softer.  Help!

    • I had a similar problem once after a bad experience with gel nails. My dermatologist told me to take viatmins, for nails and gave me a prescription, now you can get the same vitamins (vitamins A and Biotin) over the counter at walgreens but the name is blanking in my mind. She also advised me to use Revivanail Xtreme. Which one  uses temporaraily to aid in thickening the nail

    • I have intermittent problem nails but last year a girl at the nail place filed across my nails and they shattered ...
So I bought calcium tablets and yes this helps so does nail varnish with out formaldehyde, toluene and no DBP (Phthales) aka dibutyl phthalate
Plus if you spend twenty minutes rubbing hand cream in every night and massage your nails and sleep with white cotton gloves on - they will grow and grow very strong - its patience and application

    • Have you been checked for a vitamin B deficiency? Low levels of certin b viatmins such as folic acid or biotin can cause nails to thin

    • Gelatin capsules work really well but you have to take a lot of them daily.

    • Part of it is genetic too.  Some people just naturally have stronger nails than others.

    • Thank you for the comments ladies.   I have had vitamin levels and thyroid checked, because of my fibromyalgia, all that is good.  I will try the suggestions.  I do believe that some people just have great nails naturally.  I will just keep them short and nice if that’s in the cards for me.

      Thank you again

      Monika

    • Hello,

I have used MSM, its a sulfur mineral found in the body, 100% natural; this has done wonders for my hair, skin and nails. Just MSM no other ingredients. Of course you can do your own research. Hope this helps.
