    • Hi,
Might I say, people are strange about that. My brother and his wife adopted a little girl and wanted to keep in touch with the people who adopted her sister, however, they opted NO, they wanted her to think she was a natural born in the family. So, needless to say, this little girl in my family now suffers from separation anxiety and knows that she has a sister she will never see until she is 18 years of age. It is selfish on the mature, or parent half. If your child is adopted, they are adopted, thank God. But cutting them off from their real siblings is only for the adoptee’s benefit, not the childs.

    • I’m thrilled for Oprah that she has a sister.  I can see why the sister did not contact Oprah until now.  For one thing, it must be very difficult to get a private communication to Oprah and remember how awful it was when someone leaked that Oprah had a child that died.

    • I tried to pitch a show idea for Oprah and it’s impossible.  I’m not sure how the shows’ producers operate that Fort Knox of hers AND manage to get new talent...even if it is a “sudden sister“.  But if you watch... the sister’s pastor got in touch with Oprah’s pastor so it is thru the church is how she finally got the messages.
A regular chic like me trying to give her a great idea just won’t happen because I don’t have a pastor.

She needs viewers.  Watch, she’ll suddenly have a brother, too.

    • I am so proud of the way this whole situation was handled.  One lesson to be learned is that some family matters should just remain that a family matter.  The media and some haters are mad because they were not the ones to spill the beans.  Oprah was in total control of how this information was aired.  If the media had gotton a hold of this first boy it would have had 1,000 spins to it not saying now they will not find something to say about it like some folks who just cannot believe that the situation was handled in a proper manner.  If Oprah now finds out she have 2 more sisters and five brothers it is not her fault, she did not bring them in this world and she sure did not ask for them.  Oprah is an unstoppable force whether we like it or not.

    • Hmmmm, I don’t know...this whole thing just reeks of publicity stunt-ness to me.  I agree Ms. Brimstone, some things should just remain in the family and not be used in a public broadcast.  I think there will be more “events” to come as the final year progresses and the need to grow viewership of OWN intensifies.  Ukoenig may be on to something....is a brother next?  estatic

    • I am also very happy how it was handled and not left for the media to tear apart and make something ugly of it. I’m very happy for Oprah and for her sister Patricia who tried in vain to contact her biological mother. She could have very well been spiteful and gone to the press in 2007 when she found out that Oprah was her sister but she didnt and that is very commendable and upstanding on her part.

    • My rabbit ears antenna doesn’t pick up NBC channels anymore so I heard of it by way of, “The Insider” on ABC.  I admire Oprah, I think she handles being in the public eye really well. It’s a half sister she didn’t know she had, not a secret child of her own she hid, so no idea of how this could shovel dirt on her?

    • I love watching Oprah and all but having a huge secret really doesn’t surprise me. Everyone has some kind of secret and eventually it will come out. She chose to let it out before the tabloids/gossip magazines got to it first and blow everything out of proportion. Not sure what to think, now she has a half sister with a nephew and niece. If shes happy about it then I’m happy for herhappyheart
