Q & A

What is your worst skin problem in the winter and what do you do for it?  For me I always end up with very scaly dry skin that itches like mad on my legs.

    • Me too! So I shave EVERYDAY!!!!! Removes that yuck skin then I moisturize like crazy. I also use a cuticle oil on my nails, toes, knees and elbows.

Just after being in MI for one week I was scratching like crazy because it dried me out even more than usual......

      Scratchy.....itchy!!!!

    • That’s weird, I have the same dry patch on my left leg/shin too, glad to hear I’m not the only one. I was starting to think I had something wrong cause its just in one spot and only in the winter time that is dries up and itches so bad!  I’ve been putting cortozone sometimes then using Goldbond cream alternately.

    • Oh, forgot to mention, I also have a small dry patch in the middle of my forehead which I have to tend to more in the winter. I use a cream from Origins on it.

    • I also have the same form of ezcema with the dry scaly itchy skin in the winter time. It is also on my legs and my elbows, behind my ears too. I use heavy mosturizing creams and triacinolone acetonide cream  twice daily. In very cold I use body oil after my shower, then the creams on top during the day

    • Instead of using lotion to moisturize, try a cream instead.  My son and I both have dry skin and find that this works better in the winter for us.  When summer arrives we switch back to lotion.

    • Ugh...definitely my heels!!!  I sleep on a heated mattress pad so my skin is kind of dry in the winter but my HEELS are treacherous if i don’t pay them special attention.  I wear moisturizing socks with a gob of Avon Footworks lotion on my heels most nights.  The socks are cool because there are no toes in them and the heels are silicone.  I swear by them!

    • I have really dry skin during the winter times. I usually use DR.Sholl’s foot cream for my dry feet and it works good for me and I have been using Burt’s Bees Almond Milk creme for my legs, arms and hands. Works for mehappyheart

    • I sometimes get an extra dry patch on my outer thighs or the small of my back. I take a loofa to those spots. I change from lotion to cream in the winter like Jo46, just for that patch of skin on my legs - the dreaded ‘winter itch.’ I know on occasion I have to hit it with witch hazel because if I don’t I’ll scratch until it bleeds. I use body butter once a week, and Aveeno most of the time, but will take the Nivea creme to those two patches. On my face I’ve had no problems since I changed to Aveeno’s facial cleanser without soap. If it wasn’t so expensive I’d use it all over.
