    • aw the Wisconsin budget. Maybe only as a moderator of sorts. I know seems funny the Pres being a moderator, but some things states need to get under control.

Take heart, I’m on pain meds right now so my decision might change. estatic

    • I think all teachers unions need to go away as most unions. I think they hurt states and federal government but what do I know?

    • Annie, I really don’t know but I will say I believe it’s time the teachers got back to teaching and quit hanging out eating pizza being delivered to them and having Dr’s show up handing out medical excuses!

    • Okay we have a similar thing here
In essence each part of the country as in town has a council and they have a budget and over the years the budget has increased year on year - part of the money comes from local housing tax and part from the government - it covers teachers, firemen , police etc as we are in dire economic straits the government have cut what they allocate and obviously cut backs have to be made
Manchester has the highest paid council employees and the leader earns five times more than the Prime Minster but they are from a different political party so to get back at the Government they are closing libraries, swimming pools etc and hit the very poor or those who need these facilities
So the Government is stepping in to sort this out
by the way the said same council have just employed 4 people to run Facebook and Twitter and each person is on $40K per year ....
all politically motivated but Joe Public has bit back we will no longer stand for this political manoeuvring

    • okay will see you then ......
It is diabolical Manchester council waste money hand over fist - they have spend over $300K on stupid match stick men in a garden yet are closing a well used library which costs $275K to run - you do the maths
It’s all political and we all know the last lost caused the problem but it’s global but don’t kick the very poor.

    • Its sad how the unions now control the government and they do.
Wisconsin is not the only state that is trying to give more bargaining rights back to the county and town governments. Indiana is also trying too.
And I personally think that the lawmakers of both Wisconsin and Indiana need to go back to their own state and stop acting like a bunch of children.  If you are against it then fine stand up and fight for your reason but don’t run away thinking that it will solve the problem.

    • I see points all around!

I am not a fan of unions. I feel that the reasons today are not the same reasons as to why they were created initially.

As for the President getting involved...... YES for the sake of the education of out children and that would be the ONLY reason. If it was for the unions in anything else I would say NO. But because we are already behind in our education we need to do what we can to help the people teaching our future. I don’t think most of the teachers get paid enough for all that is expected of them. Especially when there are non involved parents.
