    • good question.

The only meat I eat is grass fed beef. Can’t stomach lamb or other types of animals. I picture a cute lil lamb or bambi. lol

As for fur etc, never really liked the look of it. The one time I wore a fur coat of my moms it felt like hair was in my mouth and nose. bleck

    • I don’t know, Annie. And are they as squimish about wearing leather shoes? The cloth ones are unsuited for some climates, synthetic can cause foot problems worn all the time.

    • Well I do love a medium rare filet mignon!  Plus I wear plenty of leather.  I have all my riding gear and people think you wear it to look “bad” or “cool” - wrong.  You wear it for protective clothing period.  I have a beautiful black sweater with pearl buttons and it has a fox collar on it and I love it!

Now I rode out of town with our friend whom we call “The Meat Man” because he’s in the meat industry.  After hearing about “knocking” cows I almost wanted to quit eating beef.  Hearing the process is really sickening.  But the meat industry has it all packaged nice and neat in saran wrap at your grocer’s for you.    The processing plants even plant tree’s all along the front of the plant to hide it from the public.  I watched a documentary on it one time.  I will always eat meat and will always wear leather.  I won’t go buy a fur as I don’t want a bucket of red paint thrown on me.  lol

    • It is a good question Annie.

I eat meat, I wear leather, and if I had the chance, you’d better believe I’d wear fur.

I spent the first 35 years of my life raising cattle and hogs I knew other people were going to eat.  I’ve been involved in every step of meat production, from a calf or piglet being born thru raising it, slaughter and putting it on a plate.  There’s nothing that would make me ever quit eating meat.  I also have no trouble wringing a chicken or rabbits neck to put food on the table for my kids.

    • Well...I do believe that God put animals on this earth for us to eat...and to use to clothe us too.  Now....am I a big meat eater...NO.  I could easily become a vegetarian...of some sort but I need the protein and I don’t like tofu.

But to answer the question....I think some people just go over board with their so call soap boxes. Sometimes they just don’t use common sense...

    • Yes, some animals are killed just to be worn.  If you’ve ever seen the damage one mink or raccoon can do in a chicken house, you’d understand why people started killing them in the first place.

Anyone who has ever had a coyote or moutain lion kill a beloved pet would probably glady have that animal’s hide.

    • I understand the concept etc of course and would never participate in things that are wrong etc towards an animal.
Regarding eating or wearing etc, how many of these protesters or whatever we call them have leather furniture or a leather coat? Or a sweater with rabbit hair in it?
      Or eat chicken/fish/beef/pork/poultry etc?
To be an extremist Im willing to bet it’s a rare find to really see someone that into it that has absolutely NO animal in anything they own or eat.
Im curious to know what their diets entail as well.

    • Example:  I’m not a fan of killing bears.  For the most part people don’t eat bears...(that I know of)...therefore why kill them.  If someone has a better answer...please speak up.

But as far as deer, rabbits, cows...etc....they provide nourishment.

    • Some people do eat bear meat. Native Americans will and use every part of it, as they do with any animal they hunt.

    • Ok...so some people eat bear...I’ve just never heard anyone say “that bear meat is sooo good“.  estatic

      Bear skin rug....hmmm....forgot about that...

I come from a family of hunters...my husband and sons like to hunt...therefore....I’m all for hunting...I just couldn’t kill a bear unless it was about to EAT ME!!

    • And I love leather furniture!  lol!

There’s also the issue of game management.  Many animals would die a horrible death starving through the winter if hunters didn’t cull the heard.

I “killed” a few fish this week.  Will enjoy eating the fillets.  But won’t be wearing their scales.  estatic

    • I don’t eat red meat (don’t care for the taste and it bloats me up), very little poultry (including game birds), so my diet mainly consists of fish, veggies, fruits, whole grains and soy products, eggs off and on...now do I wear animal fur, no..not because I am an extremist, just never had the desire to..it doesn’t suit me...do I get upset when an animal is killed for food?, no..would I get upset if an animal is killed for anything other than food?, depends on the situation is all I can say..IMHO.
