  If you have a 20 to 34 year old "emerging adult,"I'd like to hear from you for a new book about how you're navigating this third decade with them.  Whether yours are already launched or still (or back) at home, chances are you're still closely connected to them, even though your relationship has changed. That's the subject of this survey, and here's what I hope you'll share with me. Or even just think about. Please send me your responses at janeadamsphd@gmail.com (subject line: Third Decade) and be as brief or as lengthy as you like. I'll keep your replies confidential and anonymous. And if you'd like to be interviewed personally by phone, tell me that, too. And of course, you can always post your thoughts or responses here! Here's what I'd like to know about you and your adult children:  How old are they? How  close are you to them? How has the relationship changed since they were 20? Is it emotionally closer, more distant, or the same? How often do you connect, how (text, phone, e-mail, in person)? Who usually initiates the contact?  What do you talk about? What kinds of questions do you ask or get asked? How confiding or private are they? How aware of you are their issues, moods, worries, relationships, challenges?  What kind of support do they need or do you give them? Has this stage of their lives changed your plans for your own, and how? Are you generally satisfied with where they are in their lives now?  Are they? What's your biggest concern about them?   My ex-husband and I have a civil relationship...but somedays he will call, just to let me know how badly his life is. He keeps doing the same things over and over, as he did when we were married. Horrible financial choices. But now our Daughters are older, and they live with both of us, back and forth...they are 18 & 21. He has them so stressed out and worried...He inflicts this guilt on them, because he cant be a responsible adult...I dont know what to do or how to help my Daughters!? They love their Dad, I do not bad mouth him...but I cant stand to see them at the point of making themselves sick over his poor judgement! Posted Oct 3, 2011 divorce exs parenting

• Our daughter has a friend that isn’t a “bad” person but just brought up much differently than she is, the girl is very loud without much concern for rules or authority and doesn’t have any manners. Her parents don’t call her, or her 3 sisters down, hardly ever. Our daughter is relatively good but is sometimes too much a follower and acts much more roudy around this “friend“. I have decided to curb the time together and our daughter is upset about this. Am I being over-protective about this or what? Posted Feb 9, 2011 parenting

  Some universities make it mandatory to stay on campus the first year, regardless if you reside next to the campus.   Do I have the right to be pissed off?  My ex-husb decided to go on a ‘business’ trip but it really ended up being with his gf.  He completely missed our daughters’ opening night for their musical.  They arrived in limos and walked down they red carpet.  He didn’t even call them.  I was so angy that I outted him of facebook!  Do I have reason to be so angry and hurt for my little girls??
