  • It's Sewing Time!

Posted on Wednesday, June 20, 2012

AS a teen, I  watched my mother sew beautiful clothing for me to wear. From hot pants to formal wear that I needed for social events.  She was my inspiration!heart I created handbags of various colors to complement my clothing.  As an adult and mother, I occasionally would sew outfits  for my  children and myself.  Also, I loved to make decorator pillows!

After many years, I’m ready to return to one of my very first hobbies-SEWING!  Here’s the animal print material and skirt pattern I purchased as a first project.

I’m excited to discover how much I recall about sewing-cutting out the pattern, sewing lingo and structuring the skirt.

  • Garden Fresh Fried Okra

Posted on Thursday, June 7, 2012

A few days ago, I had 3 okra pods and decided to wait until more  had grown before cooking the okra.  Today, I had 8 okra pods and could wait no longer!  Minus a few pieces, I just had to do a taste test.  Mmmmmmmgoood!

  • My First Vegetable Harvest

Posted on Monday, June 4, 2012

I look forward to checking the progress of my garden whenever I am home.  It is so exciting to see vegetables grow from seeds and seedlings.  Amazing!

I harvested these veggies from the first veggie garden I’ve had in many years.  The tomatoes are so fresh-tasting and very delicous.  I also plucked a few leaves from a basil plant.

I intend to cook the okra as soon as I have enough. At the rate they are growing in my garden, it will be very soon.

Ideas...what dish do you make using okra?
