  • Ignorance....Heartlessness...

Posted on Friday, October 16, 2009

The following is information that is sweeping across the web and hitting all of the Fibromyalgia/CFS/ME message boards.  The ignorance and heartlessness of some people in this world still astounds me.  I’ve contacted Dave Ryan and have received no response from him as yet.  I also contacted Timothy Hutchinson...e-mailed him the latest research findings regarding the XMRV and he did respond by saying that his wife is a scientist and his father-n-law is a doctor and they both say that Fibromylagia/CFS/ME are all a hoax.  So he is sticking by his original view that it is a hoax.  I guess, if anything, all of this is bringing attention to the issue.  It just makes you stop and think...what other topics/issues in life do people with such ignorance and asinine behaviors belittle.  Please copy and paste into your web browser the links below.  The youtube video tells the whole story.
    Peace and Blessings,
    Deb

    (Free-Press-Release.com) October 13, 2009—
Dave Ryan from 101.3 KDWB stated on his twitter account “People who should be shot: those who walk sloooooowly off the airplane 7 minutes behind the last person in front of them. Also, those who claim they have fibromyalgia.”

    Read the article!!! www.free-press-release.com/news-dave-ryan-from-101-3-kdwb-twitters-people-with-fibromyalgia-should-be-shot-1255475753.html

Here is a response from a “fan” of Dave Ryan on his fb page.
    Timothy Hutchinson
Wendy, Cynthia, and all the rest of you fibro-people; Dave made a one-line joke on TWITTER (not FACE BOOK), and NOT on the radio. On Twitter he has about 6500 followers? Those who follow him on Twitter (myself included) know his style of humor and get it.

We know he is not advocating the shooting of fibro-people. He was obviously frustrated getting off the plane and shot off a quick-liner to a small online crowd of people who understand his brand of humor. Nothing he says about fibro-people in one quick line on Twitter is suddenly going to change our attitudes about your medical situation. It was a one line joke to a small intimate crowd - and now we have fibro-people SPAMMING Face Book. Sorry but that makes YOU ALL look like the BAD PEOPLE.

Further, check the dictionary to discover the difference between the words “stated” and “joked” - your ‘cause’ page uses them interchangeably, when they mean different things. Learning the difference might help resolve this matter. He JOKED, not STATED that fibro-people should be shot. Not LITERALLY, but in his own HUMOROUS way that his Twitter followers get.... Read More

Obiously he doesn’t beleive that fibro is real, and that’s his choice. Quite honestly I think fibro is a hoax also. But that’s not why I defend Dave on this matter - it’s because I support his right to freedom of speech, and you are all being ASSES and SPAMMING Face Book.

You want respect? No problem; just convince a credible medical source / institution / governing body that fibro is real. Even then you can expect people to tell jokes about it once in a while. It’s a part of life - grow up and deal with it.

  • XMRV

Posted on Tuesday, October 13, 2009

    Promising research info just released.

The spectrum of neuro-immune diseases including: Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS), Atypical MS, Fibromyalgia and Gulf War Syndrome, share common abnormalities in the innate immune response inc, which result in chronic immune activation and immune deficiency.

We have detected the retroviral infection XMRV is greater than 95% of the more than 200 ME/CFS, Fibromylagia, Atypical MS patients tested. The current working hypothesis is that XMRV infection of B, T, NK and other cells of the innate immune response causes the chronic inflammation and immune deficiency resulting in an inability to mount an effective immune response to opportunistic infections. (See XMRV paper in Science.)

This discovery opens an entire new avenue of Neuro-Immune Disease related research and our discovery has brought to this field world-renown immunologists and retrovirologists building our team of collaborators to translate our discoveries into new treatments as soon as possible.

Because retroviruses are known to cause inflammatory diseases, neurological disease immune deficiency and cancer the discovery of XMRV has far reaching implications for the prevention and treatment of not only lymphoma, one of the potentially devastating complications of ME/CFS but prostate cancer and perhaps many others.

As National Academy of Sciences member and expert retrovirologist, John Coffin wrote in the commentary accompanying our landmark publication in Science “One New Virus-How many Old Diseases“. We look forward to translating this discovery into treatment options!

  • USA taken over...

Posted on Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Last night the USA was taken over by a foreign country.  There were soldiers in the street and everyone was told they had to stay in their homes.  Dolls were be-headed and the soldiers took the doll bodies away and told the children they could only have the heads.  The front door was open and a child’s doll head rolled onto the front porch.  The child started crying...I had to help her.  So, I kept one foot on the thresh-hold of the doorway while reaching for the doll head.  I finally retrieved it...as I was trying to make my way back into the house.  Just then I looked up and a soldier was standing over me with a gun pointed to my head.  He said...come with me.  I asked why.  He said because you left your home.  I said no I didn’t...I still have one foot in the thresh-hold.  He lowered the gun, smiled, shook his head and walked away.
I then woke up from this horrible nightmare.  I was shaking.  Any ideas what this could have meant?  I’m at a total loss.  All I know is that this was one of the worst nightmares I’ve ever had.

  • Virgil’s Vanilla Diet Cream Soda

Posted on Friday, October 9, 2009

So....I just stopped by the health food store on my way home from having lunch with Matt.  I picked up some currants...going to make some Welsh Cookies this weekend.  Anyway...I picked up a bottle of Virgil's Vanilla Diet Cream Soda.  Here are the ingredients:  purified carbonated water, xylitol, vanilla extract, caramel color, spices, stevia, ginseng, ginkgo, rhodiola, hibiscus, amalaki, shatavari.  It has 6 calories for a 12oz bottle.  Sounds good right...or at least interesting?  Wrong....it is horrible.  I have taken 2 sips and it is just horrible...I can't even think of another term for it.  Has anyone else tried this?  It is actually labeled as a dietary supplement.  I'm not sure what exactly is making it taste so horrible...it is way too sweet.  I use stevia in my tea everyday and it doesn't taste like stevia...I'm wondering if it is the xylitol.  By the way...did I mention it tasted horrible.  This is 6 calories I won't be consuming today.  I'm going to seal the bottle back up and have Matt try it later.  That would be a little mean of me wouldn't it!?  Oh, just in case I forgot to mention it...it tastes horrible.  Well, I'm off to brush my tongue...again...I can't get rid of this horrible taste in my mouth.  Blech!!

  • Decision...day 2...a walk in the rain.

Posted on Friday, September 25, 2009

Today is day 2 in my decision to “get it together“.  My morning started abruptly at 2:00a.m. with yet another migraine...thinking, hoping it was weather related.  The forecast for today has called for rain and thunderstorms for most of the day.  After my breakfast I decided at around 9:30a.m. that I “had” to get out of the house.  I decided to go for a “walk in the rain.”  I went to my usual place and walked along the Mississippi River.  As I began my walk along the path I heard a bird making a lot of noise...it was very upset.  I looked over and I saw a Blue Jay.  I haven’t seen a Blue Jay in over 7 years.  He was a beautiful sight to see...I don’t think he thought the same of me however.  You see, I was dressed in a bright yellow rain poncho...and the Blue Jay didn’t like it one bit.  As I walked further down the path breathing in the fresh air and watching leaves gentle falling along with the rain drops, I noticed something in the distance.  Along the bank of the river was a large group of birds...big birds.  As I got closer I realized that they were Pelicans.  Within the past two years Pelicans have started to make this part of the Mississippi their home.  They are a beautiful yet gawky looking bird in my opinion and they are a welcome sight to our neck of the woods.  Anyway, back to my bright yellow poncho...those Pelicans got one look at me and they were off.  I was the only person on this part of the river walk today and I was scaring every bird in sight.  Well, now it is 2:30p.m. and the sun is shining!  It is a beautiful 70 degrees and you know what...I’m glad that I decided to take the walk in the rain....estatic
