  • Hocus Pocus! Lets Focus!

Posted on Sunday, June 20, 2010

Are you disheveled? Always running and going nowhere? Today is I am ready to rescue me day by reclaiming my energy? Lets stop and think about how we can get our vitality back. This requires simple actions that can be done immediately. Like Nike says” Just Do It”

First, there are three kinds of energy. Physical, Mental, Emotional. The way you manage these areas will impact your ability  to live each day with vitality. Today we will talk about Physical Energy!!

The manner in which you care for your physical world directly affects you. Think about how much time you waste each day.  Are you constantly losing your keys, sorting through piles of mail, paperwork, cleaning etc.

Today take the following energy asessment designed to help you identify areas where you are wasting your physical energy.

    1-Is your home clean?

Have one or two cleaning days! Why should you waste your physical energy on cleaning everyday. Get some me time!

2-Do you have a cleaning duties list and then delegate it to your children and partner?

No one should be exempt from cleaning where they live. No one! Everyone should pitch in because I am sure everyone made the mess. This is so Moms can get some me time!

3-Are the items you own in good condition?

Anything that is in disrepair, torned, have marks, etc  should be thrown out. Why? Its taking up space and you know it? Furthermore, you probably are tired of looking at it anyway! After you throw it out get some me time!

4-Do you use or need every Item in your home?

You know you do not need that broken down ottomon in the corner that is taking up living space!! Get rid of it today. Make space for space and get some me time!!

5-Does your home feel like your home?

It does not take a million dollars to make a home feel like a home? Make your home special by decorating it to your standards. A simple picture that reminds you of your trip to the zoo will suffice. Hang it up and Get some me time just  looking at it?

6-Is all of your clothing in good condition?

Your clothing should be a reflection of you and what you physically look like. Make sure  your clothes represent how you feel and appropriate to you taste.  I know women who could make a $10.00 dress look like a $1,000 and you wouldn’t know the difference. So, its not how much it cost, its how you carry yourself in it. Clean up that closet and take a drawer one a time to find out. Do one better give those clothes to someone or take it to a  homeless shelter, or church who is collecting clothing items for the poor. Why keep clothes that do not fit around when you could share in the JOY of giving it to someone else. Doing so, definitely, deserves some me time!

I know you guys have noticed  ” Get some me time ’  Well, as women for the most part, we are always doing things for others( Children, husband, family, friends, neighbors, etc)  and leaving ourselves out of the formula so today  do one of the above to gain back your physical energy and feel good about yourself. See you next time.

  • What Teachers Make?

Posted on Saturday, May 29, 2010

This was posted and I had to share it with all the mom’s
out there! Stay bless this Memorial Day Weekend!!
    ________________________________________________________

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.  One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, “What’s a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?”

To stress his point he said to another guest; “You‘re a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?”

Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, “You want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began...)

“Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could.

I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor winner.

I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents can’t make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game Cube or movie rental.

You want to know what I make? (She paused again and looked at each and every person at the table)

    I make kids wonder.
    I make them question.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions.
I teach them to write and then I make them write. Keyboarding isn’t everything.
I make them read, read, read.
I make them show all their work in math. They use their God given brain, not the man-made calculator.

I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know about English while preserving their unique cultural identity.

I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe.

I make my students stand, placing their hand over their heart to say the

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, One Nation Under God, because we live in the United States of America.

Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life...

(Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)

Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, with me knowing money isn't everything, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because they are mis-informed." You want to know what I make? I MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

What do you make Mr. CEO?" His jaw dropped, he went silent.

    ***************************************************************

Wasn’t that a great story? Remember this, teachers, coaches, mentors, motivators, and friends all make a difference in the lives of others. As we strive to be the best coaches, let’s remember why we do this and the positive impact it has on our clients!

  • Poem for veterans and their family

Posted on Thursday, May 27, 2010

Just wanted to pass this along in preparation for Memorial Day

    It is the
    VETERAN,
    not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

    It is
    the VETERAN,
    not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

    It is
    the VETERAN,
    not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

    It is
    the VETERAN,
    not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

    It is
    the VETERAN,
    not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

    It is
    the VETERAN,
    not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.

    It is the
    VETERAN who
    salutes the Flag,

    It is
    the
    VETERAN
    who serves
    under the Flag,

ETERNAL REST GRANT THEM O LORD,
AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.

We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve.

    God
    Bless them all!!!

Makes you proud to be an AMERICAN!!!!
