All Eyes are on Fabulously40 Featured Member Cathie Beck!

Cathie, also known as cjbeck on!

We asked her a few personal questions to learn more about this powerful Fabulously40 woman!

Lets learn a little more about Cathie Beck and her career!

I’ve had many jobs and 2 small businesses of my own. I have worked in accounting, customer service and marketing because a lot of my jobs did involve those skills. I attended a community college on my own in my 30’s. I started working jobs for money to buy clothes and shoes when I was 12 and loved having the ability to provide for myself. I baby sat and cleaned houses at that age.

Currently Working?

Due to health issues, I am not currently working in the job market but assist my husband with his business details. I’ve always had an interest in design and do all the design projects in our home with a “I did that!” attitude.

Well, I have to be honest about this. If a job made me totally miserable I would quit it and look for a better job. That doesn’t seem to be an option these days and recently had a friend stuck in the miserable job place. All I could do was suggest some ways to cut living expenses. She’d done it
already, but was glad to have the support from a friend.

Cathie's list of accomplishments:

My most recent accomplishments is teaching myself to play violin (doesn’t matter I still play like a kid, I can read music!) and finding a combination of medicinal herbs that helps me survive the MCS.
- The bookcase I built in our great room this spring. I’d already built a free standing cabinet and a sewing table that can work as buffet table, but the bookcase is my biggest wood working accomplishment. It’s 6‘4” tall and I’m 5‘1“.
- My greatest accomplishment in this life has been re-inventing myself to go with the flow of life. It can be scary at times, but what adventure isn’t?

I do set goals for myself and imagine myself living it. My birthday is my new year so I think what I’d like to do for the year.

Religion and Spirituality?

I am not religious, but I am spiritual and a bit psychic and maintain my connection with “Home“. I am a spirit first and a human 2nd... on an adventure as a human. Of course I don’t talk about it with others who don’t know this for their self.

I feel networking in general is awesome, and job/career networking the kind of support needed in these times.

Any advice I could give for career climbing is ... Don’t let the career consume you and the rest of your life, keep a balance to keep who you are, be honest with yourself on how you‘re affected by it.

I do contribute to a couple of Oprah’s pet charities for education of children in 3rd world countries and would love to live to see the impact we make with our contributions.

Love it
