Fall Beauty Tips

Fall has officially arrived and that means falling leaves and dropping temperatures. The colder weather makes it slightly more challenging to stay healthy and beautiful. However, there are many things that people can do to keep themselves looking and feeling good during the colder months. By following the tips below, you won’t have to feel cold and colorless like the upcoming winter months.

A well-balanced diet is the most important element for people to maintain all year round to prevent weight gain. Since people tend to gain weight during the winter months, watching and maintaining your diet during this period is very important. A healthy diet can also help keep a person’s hair, skin and nails healthy. Make sure you consume plenty of whole grains, vegetables, fruits and lean meat and limit your intake of red meat, white rice, sweets and foods that are fried and high in sodium. It is also important to note that one can still become dehydrated during the fall months. Drinking lots of water not only prevents dehydration, but it also keeps the skin glowing and healthy.

People are also more prone to gaining weight in the fall because they spend less time outdoors. Fortunately, there are many activities that you can do inside. Playing with your kids or pets, using an exercise DVD and even cleaning the house are simple activities that can help you maintain a healthy body weight. If you need a tougher routine, consider joining a gym. People who prefer to exercise outside need to make sure that they wear layered clothing.

The dropping temperatures also make the skin more prone to dryness. Dry skin can lead to other problems such as eczema and inflammation. Additionally, dry skin also makes a person more prone to wrinkles. The key to preventing dryness is use a moisturizer every day. There are many moisturizers available today, but it is important to avoid using products that contain alcohol because they have a tendency to dry the skin out. Be sure to include an exfoliating body wash into your shower routine. Exfoliating helps get rid of dry, dead skin on the surface of your body to make way for healthier, radiant skin cells that will make you glow.

It is a little harder to stay healthy and beautiful during the fall, but it is not at all impossible. Eating a well-balanced diet, exercising, drinking plenty of water and keeping the skin moisturized can help you look and feel your best during the colder months.

    • As the seasons change so must our skin care.  I know, you just get comfortable with your routine and then bam you have to change again.  But, for your skin’s sake you need to change things up a bit.
      Just watch how your skin changes and pay attention to its needs and adjust accordingly.  In fall and winter your skin is going to need more moisture and make sure to keep up with the sunscreen and exfoliation :)
