Meet Megan Anderson

By Staff

On Life, Success & Much More

Megan Andersonalways been an entrepreneur by definition. After graduating from High School, she attended Bellingham Beauty School, and at the age of nineteen opened her first business, a beauty salon. The success of that company allowed her the blessing to be actively involved in the real-estate industry.
Living in Mount Vernon, Washington, Megan shared with us her upcoming career and how she launched her business Coaching Your Destiny

FB: Please tell us what happened after you got involved in Real Estate.

Meg:In 1997, I started Action Events (which became PEC in 2004). I was able to built the company by partnering with other small businesses and negotiating discounts and contracts with the vendors, focusing on morale and corporate specialty events. I was able to success in interpreting the needs of my clients and providing those services expanded the company to offer full event management services.

Megan AndersonIn 1999 I established a relationship with Microsoft and was invited into the Microsoft Preferred Vendor Program. Continuing to nurture the relationship with Microsoft, Premier Event Connection was upgraded from Preferred Status to Premier Status in 2000.

Having  many years of experience in the special events industry, I developed an expertise and style not commonly found in the event industry. To complement my event planning company, I started a catering company in 2003 called Avenue Catering.  Avenue Catering quickly became one of the largest catering companies in the Northwest.

With an entrepreneurial spirit, and needing to reinvent myself every 5 years... LOL  I felt the pull toward a new adventure and a shift in lifestyle in 2005. This shift in lifestyle prompted me to sell both the event planning firm and the catering company to the employees. Being able to sell the companies to the employees that had helped make them so successful was very rewarding to me on a personal level and increased my desire to reach out and assist others in realizing their dreams.

I have been honored to be able to provided coaching for companies, individuals and couples over the years and moving into coaching was simply the natural progression of my driving passion to help people.

I married  a wonderful man in 1998 and had two fantastic boys. Together with my husband we teach marriage classes at our church and have enjoyed working on community efforts in Mount Vernon Washington where I lived all of my life.

FB: During our careers, there are always challenges we are faced with that may or may not be gender related. I would like to know the most significant challenges you have been faced throughout your career or are facing now, and how you overcame them or plan to overcome them?

Meg: There have been many trials in both my business and personal life.  But one thing is for sure, God has never let me down.

FB: What keeps/kept you from giving up along the way when faced with tough challenges or let downs? Where did you find the strength or desire to keep pushing forward?

Meg: Through knowing that God has a purpose for me and he has always been there for me every step of the way.  I don't give up because I don't know how to do that.

FB: What are your accomplishments you are most proud of and why?

Meg: Learning how to be a great Wife and Mother.

FB: Did/do you have a support system surrounding you throughout your career climbing and if so, who are they and how did/do they help you?

My Husband who was with me every step of the way.  He endured me when I was so tired I couldn’t keep my eyes open.
My Boys who at times got the short end of the stick but still loved me unconditionally.
My Sister who has always told me the truth even if I didn’t want to hear it. happy
My Mom and Dad who have been there to move equipment, pop, trucks, or anything else I needed in those early days.
Jamie - Trina - Who were there with me fighting to be the best we could be EVERY DAY

FB: What do you attribute your success to?

Meg: GOD! and the love of my family

FB:Has goal setting been a key component to your success and why?

Mag: As long as it is... Honest - Moral - And Kind I can do anything.

FB: In helping yourself achieve career goals, do you perform any type of mediation, relaxation or affirmations? If so, what has your experience been in relation to helping you accomplish your professional and personal goals?

Meg:I pray and read, but I have to say that being still it really hard for me.  I would say that this is a growth area.

FB:Have you had any mentors that have guided you or provided insight throughout your career climbing? Have you been a mentor to others? What was your experience like?

Meg:I have had a spiritual mentor for the past 18 years and I know that I couldn't be where I am with out him.  I hope that I have been able to mentor all of my employees to become the best that they can be.  I take this very seriously.

FB: What is your experience with networking and do you feel it is important? If so why or why not? Please describe any positive or negative experiences you may have had.

Meg:I love networking, but I don't call it that.  I call it making friends.  I invite people over for coffee and we connect.  No strings, no sale just friends talking.  And thing's do move forward because we like each other.  happy

FB:What do you feel are the essentials to career climbing and why?

Meg:Why would you have to climb if that is who you are.  I don't climb, I stand in the place that I am meant to be.

FB: Where do you see yourself in your career in 5 or 10 years and how do you plan on getting there?

Meg: I will be doing Public Speaking and helping people find who they are meant to be.

FB: Are you involved in any non-profit organizations as a volunteer or board member? If so, which charity and why did you choose that particular charity? What role do you have in supporting them?

Meg: I was on the board for Love Inc and headed up a budget mentoring class every year.  We helped people gain financial freedom.
