Twins 101: 50 Must-Have Tips for Pregnancy through Early Childhood From Doctor M.O.M.(mom of multiples) by Khanh-Van Le-Bucklin is a great book to give anyone who has just found out they're having a multiple birth! Now I know that many of us here on fab40 are past being pregnant, but let's face it you never know.  Or we just might be lucky enough to have our daughter or daughter-in-law find out the wonderful news-and they may really appreciate this very informative and fun to read book!

What makes this book different is the author-not only is Le-Bucklin a mom of twins herself, but she is a board certified pediatrician and medical school professor-at University of California, Irvine.  The bubbly doctor and I had an interview together for a major newspaper and she explained that she is the only pediatrician, who has had twins to write a book on the subject.  Her take is not only as a medical professional, but as a seasoned parent as well.  Le-Bucklin also has an older daughter.  Busy and talented lady.

The book offers targeted advice from the beginning of what to do to combat various complications during gestation and carries on to give suggestions on what to do when your multiples decide to have a group temper tantrum at the mall!  She shares her personal experiences and tips-my favorite is the one where she suggests getting a huge pair of sunglasses and wearing them to keep people from stopping you and asking questions.

Besides obvious hints, ideas and medical advice Twins 101 also relates research findings, websites for moms, groups and service organizations and even consumer guides.

Le-Bucklin offers it all in good humor; light-hearted jokes and inspirational anecdotes making this reference guide a breeze to get through.

The number of twin births in the US is at an all time high-did you realize this?  Right now one of every 31 births results in the delivery of twins!  This is over 130,000 newborns born every year-yet until this book was published, there really hasn't been any user-friendly manuals to help parents with the overwhelming work that is thrust upon them in a matter of minutes.

I have a feeling that not only is TWINS: 101 the first of its kind-it will continue to be the best and become a bible of sorts for parents of multiples.
